ETA pix with pants. How’s the length? Red BOOTS

Evaluating, think they’re keepers.

My son says no, “they’re like Timberlands for white people!” But he doesn’t want me to get real Timberlands either, lol. (Side note: about a year ago, when I told him TLands were a Black style thing, he said I was crazy. Made me wonder if that was over. I started seeing it in the mid 90s, so it could’ve run its course. I think it’s more just that other people wear them now & he’s just catching on that it was a Black thing).

The heels are higher than I’d like, aesthetically, but absolutely no problem to walk in. The suede is tdf. The red isn’t quite as bright as I wanted/expected, but I want to try them with the things I was hoping to wear them with. I started looking for these a couple weeks ago, and now, the rest of my stuff will be here very soon. Ironic.

This outfit, the dress & tights with the boots (& eventually a necklace) is one I was thinking of. What do you think? You like?

I like! Red boots are surprisingly versatile. That's a very wearable heel height, especially with a block heel.

JAileen, the description says (in German) that they don’t have any “Applikationen”. I’m taking that to mean no waterproofing. I will use a spray on them, should probably get in the habit of brushing/touching up the suede after wearing them. He’s mostly joking about white people things.

This outfit came together in the most happenstance way—dress bought as professional attire, but too comfy to stay only in that category, worn for a chilly afternoon in Cologne with tights that kept sliding down, so I grabbed the sweater-knits at Uniqlo. Add mail-order boots and ta-daa!

Thanks Gigi! Crossovers to fashion from function are like that. It took me a while in the 90s to figure out that it wasn’t just “construction boots” I was seeing, but a very specific brand & model.

I love this outfit and the boots, as long as they are comfortable my vote is keep! I really like this red colour which looks vibrant in the photos. Were you wanting a warmer orange based red as this looks like a cool toned blue/pink based red to me? The red of the boots works well with your blue tights.

I prefer this slightly higher heel than a flatter one, because it is more versatile making it easier to wear the boots with dresses and skirts as well as jeans and other pants. Although the Timberland boots (Find #3) are so pretty, I am sure you could make them work with most things too.

Thanks Bijou! I like cool reds more than orange-y reds, but was thinking just brighter. I’m warming up to these, thought.

Angie, the heels are rubber, not hard on the cobblestones, and the heels are cut just right—sometimes it feels like block heels hit the ground just a tiny bit too soon. These don’t do that. 9749 steps as of 4:20 this afternoon. I guess that means I’m keeping them. But still, I should check them with pants.

Kkards, the guys I knew who wore them were Black men in Europe, so both of the above. They listened to the rappers named in that article.

Suntiger, that article is one of those rare instances when the title “things you didn’t know about x” turned out to be true, at least for me.

I have heard that hiking boot styles are big this year, and work boots would fit with that, I think! And red boots of course, also very “in.”

Your son’s fashion opinion cracks me up. He doesn’t have enough historical context yet Kids today! They probably think they invented 90s fashion.

I like them with the pink, i did a similar thing with a hot pink blouse and my burgundy booties Not sure about the ppl, due to the lace up. Id say it depends on whether you want to expose the whole laces or make them less prominent.

Thanks Suntiger! The legs in the green pants are narrow enough that the laces show even though the pants reach the tops of my feet. I’m fine with the way the laces show there. I’m less confident/comfortable with the jeans with these boots. Wearing pants that are intentionally short is new for me. I was fine with these with my loafers & sandals, am less so with the boots.

FashIntern, the new boots look great with the pants, as long as the hems of the pants don't catch uncomfortably on the top of the boots. Have you tried a little rolled hem to expose more of the boots?
