Recent WIW's: An Aida copy "attempt" and two summer outfits

When I saw Aida's post: WIW 05.05 [to the hairdresser - UPDATED] (sorry I don't know how to change the name of posts to something like "here") I knew I wanted to attempt a copy. I love how she paired mint green with the black and white windowpane trousers. I was happy with this when I wore it, but looking at it now I've decided I prefer a lower-rise look, like in pic #2. I like the way the untucked top in #2 creates a longer line on top than tucked top in #1 does. Buttoning the cropped cami might help a little.

The top in pic #2 is a linen tee from the Loft last year. I'm not so happy with the way these held up in the wash (the neckline and hemline stretch out), but I hope to get one more season out of them. Laying them flat to dry and reshaping the neckline helps a little.

The last pic is from today - we took a day trip to one of our favorite spots, Cooperstown, NY. Since Cooperstown is all about baseball, I wore my BF rolled up baseball print shorts and chambray shirt.

How fun I hear you on the lower rise thing, I'd probably wear #1 with the top untucked as well. The white with the soft mint is really lovely on you! Great colors in #2, the navy with the black/red is a bit more unexpected and definitely a richer color combo. Great Cooperstown outfit, LOVE those baseball shorts (no surprise, I'm sure)!

Thanks, Aida! The plaid in #2 is actually a black, blue, and red plaid. The top is really a richer/brighter blue than navy, my bad with the description. And my baseball print BF shorts fit right in with the Cooperstown crowd!

Cosmo Edward is adorable! The mint color in the first picture is beautiful on you. It looks great paired with the black and white. I get very annoyed with how linen tees warp too.

Karie, you look so pretty in that mint green! I think the outfit looks really nice, though I like your idea to untuck the top. The second outfit is great, too. As for Cosmo Edward, he would make a great mascot for somebody's team!

Thanks everyone! Untucking that top won't work with the sweater because it hangs down a lot further than the cropped sweater does and just doesn't look right
Next time I'll either leave the topper off (it's a sleeveless peasant style blouse) or perhaps I'll find a pretty mint green top by then!

Rise is tricky, isn't it? I can't wear a lower rise, since the curve of my hip is high -- what seamstresses call a "high hip." Usually, I go for a midrise or, in wider, softer pants, a high-rise. I appreciate a lower rise on others, though, and can see why you like the proportions better. Love the b/white plaid!
