Recent denim - YouLookFab Forum

I have picked up a few good pairs of jeans over the last few weeks, and retired a few pairs that are not fitting well (grrr, lately) or are not as good quality.
I kept the Rag & Bone Dylan boyfriend jeans and will post when I wear them again. I think I need to shorten them to have the roll lay flat enough. Great jeans, though!
These are the Bella Stretch Relaxed Straight Jeans from Quince. They are thick and stretchy - but not stretch-out stretchy, and even though they have some volume to them, I really like them. I got the longest length - 30" and am happy with it after one laundering, air dry, and ironing.

I'm less sure if I love the Gap peblum denim jacket that I have really liked on Suz and others. I haven't cut the tags - wouldn't mind some feedack.

Geez Laurie - you look GREAT in those jeans! Beautiful fit and perfect amount of ease. I really wish Quince would ship to Canada.

I have that same GAP jacket in black, and have only worn it once. I wore it open over a dress to work one day and suspect it didn't create the most flattering rear silhouette (being kind to myself here, lol) . I'm actually not sure what I'm going to do with it or how I will style it, to be honest, and I probably could have done without it. I went through such an ordeal actually getting it that I felt I needed to keep it- which is silly. I like how you are wearing it as a top here - I may try that when the weather cools down in a month.

I am not sure if I love the jacket for you. Can't put my finger on anything technically wrong with it. It just feels a bit blah for you. Almost a bit too prim or fussy?? Others may disagree with me.

The jacket looks a size big, from what I can see here. The style needs to be filled out more on the shoulders and arms, to my eye. Have you tried a smaller size? You look gorgeous in white, nonetheless!

Angie, I have not tried it smaller. This is a S. It does feel roomy, but not sure if I want a denim jacket that needs to be closely fitted. I'd be limited to thin or sleeveless tops and then it wouldn't suit fall temps etc etc.

Glad you like the jeans! These jeans feel like they fitl a lot like the recent winner Hint of Blu jeans, though are generally a bit wider. I've been wearing them all day, and they are stretching a bit, but not in the waist. If anything, I'd be ok to partially dry them next time since they do have some give.

The boatneck top is also Quince, by the way. It is substantial and stretchy. I am sorry Quince doesn't ship to Canada. I have so many great and affordable items of clothing, bedding, accessories that I've accumulated over the last few years. Angie, we need a link to Quince if they do that, so we can click through YLF!

I may be exiting my Old Navy phase....it is nice to wear higher quality denim.

I was going to say, never mind the jacket, look at that TOP! And also, you look amazing in white. And the jeans are terrific on you. Legs for miles and also a really relaxed, easy vibe to them. Great purchase.

Re the jacket....it is a tricky one. Mine is so snug that I really have to wear it as a top or with sleeveless items...which is actually ok for my climate. I won't wear it often, but when I wear it, it will be just the thing. And it was not expensive. I bought mine because I have been searching literally for years for a replacement for my old and completely destroyed white denim jacket, to no avail. This is a different style, so not a replacement...but it was the best thing I could come up with after a lot of searching. Then, wouldn't you know it -- and speaking of Old Navy -- I found what might be the actual replacement at Old Navy kids. Go figure....

I think one thing that might make the peplum work for me is -- going along with Lise's recent Kibbe post -- peplums can read prim or girly or fussy, and your style is quite natural.

Those are quite nice, and the price is right. I have had good luck with Quince so far. I may have to try these out--grey is actually my favorite color for jeans.
