Recap of dress challenge week.

Actually, for me it was a skirt challenge and apparently a SE Petty booties week!. Luckily the weather cooperated with beautiful days in the 70's F.

Thanks so much Sona for the dress challenge!

This week DF (dress form) helped me out twice!
1) Wore to church. I've been noticing a lot of button downs layered under short sleeve blouses in fashion blogs, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Happiness factor high: felt chic and feet were comfy.

2) Wore to take kiddos to the mall for their monthly Lego build event. New knit skirt from Target that mimics the Bailey 44. Pieces are seamed, not tiered. Comfy with nice drape and stretch, but not tight/body con. I think this will be a nice travel/spring workhorse. Happiness factor medium because I kept fussing with the hem of my blouse.

3) Wore to high school open house. Wasn't sure about this on the DF. I thought the vest and white b.d. combo would make me feel dowdy. Happiness factor was actually high because everything was comfy and I liked how the metallic belt and booties updated the outfit.

4) Eldest DS wore his first tie and went to his first dance today! <Sniff> This is what I wore while contemplating how quickly 14 yrs has gone by. Got distracted with my thoughts that I forgot to put on earrings and my minimal make-up! ACK!

Well I think all of these look fab. I particularly like #1. It's interesting, elegant and you look very chic. #2 is my next fave. I have that skirt from Target Australia in cream and black. This works so well with the cropped denim jacket. No would say you had an inspired week x

So many great styles here! The vest in #3 reminds me of one from Rag & Bone. And I love the layering in #1 -- I tried on that top but it looked wrong on me. My favorite is #4, it's simple and shows your nice legs.

It is very interesting to see all your looks at once! I think they all are very successful. My favorite is actually #4, very simple and cool. #3 is also beautiful! Love the shine in contrast with black.

I love that shirt in #1, unfortunately I tried it on and it looked terrible on me. I'm happy to see it looks good on you and I love the way you've styled it here. I also love #4, I'm trying to figure out if I have the right pieces to copy this look.

Wow! You are Queen Remix. Your items all are great, but it's the style you have in combining them in fresh, but not fussy ways that really sets you apart. Well, that, and the fact that you're lovely, which is helpful! I'd never have thought of the layering in #1. This might not work as well on my larger frame, but I'll keep it in mind. I also am learning that I can be a little freer and mixing denim, grey, black and blue items that are similar, but not identical in tone. You have an excellent eye for tonal, low contrast dressing. I'm still trying to match, or play it safe with high contrast.

These are fantastic, AJ. I love them all and would wear them (if I had the pieces) in a second. The booties look wonderful on you...what a great purchase. Love the new skirt, too. And that top in #1 is spectacular on you!

Deborah, how has your Target skirt held up?

Rae, I wish I had some fun metallic shoes to go with #3. That skirt is a wool blend DKNY that I thrifted. It's been such a workhorse, even in my HOT summers.

CocoLion, that vest is about 15 yrs old but it has always survived my wardrobe edits. What about the NR for Kohl's top looked wrong on you?

Carolbee, I was pretty happy to find that Target skirt. My IT figure means no hips, so it was great to find something that gives them a little shape.

Ingunn, when I put that metallic belt on #3, it just seemed to improve the whole. I really enjoy how accessories can do that.

Great skirt week. All these outfits look fab - I am especially enamoured of #4 which as you say might have looked dowdy if not for the boots & belt.
