R13 X-Over Jeans Size 25 vs. 26, which is better

I felt the size 25s pulled a bit around the hips so I got a 26 to compare. Pictures are shown side by side for comparison with a really basic work tee, these outfits are NOT STYLED.

Odd numbered pictures: Size 25
Even numbered pictures: Size 26

I have decided to go for these jeans (although, here's one more chance to warn me if you think I'm making a big mistake). Which size is better? Both sizes pass the sit test and I have not pinned them anywhere to even out the bunching, I am letting them be au naturel.

Sooooo close. I like the rear view of the 25's better, but the overall bagginess of the 26's. Sorry I'm no help. But I'm supremely jealous. Totokaelo just restocked these in my size, :(.

They both look fabulous. I think the rear fit on the 25s would win the day for me. (But I'm on Team Fitted, so slouchy fitted is my preferred shape.)

I think overall I like the 25s since they fit better on top, but I do like how the 26s have looser legs. (Also, not sure if it's just the photo, but does the 26 have a distressed spot right over the crotch? It's bugging me a bit.)

I'm with Anna ... like the 26s from the front, but not the back view. Much prefer the back view of the 25s, although something about them still bothers me.

I'm all for an unflattering backside (i.e. boyfriend jeans), but these ... I don't know. These pants really push the envelope for me in the backside department. Love the front view, but am really put off by the back view on these.

both have merits and come down to the vibe you want to give. the slouchiness of 26 feels newer, but the butt is a touch too slouchy. the 25s have that figure flattering fit, but is less edgy.

where do you want to go with these pants, sartorially?

Gah! I think the ladies have spelled it out (front of 26 but back of 25). I'm team front view so I'd go for the edge of the 26s.

I honestly find the front view so similar between the two that I'd have to go for the 25 because the rear view is so much better.

I actually feel like the 26 is too loose in the crotch to the point that the pants are 'frowning'... it's camouflaged by the cut, but that's what it looks like to me. I'm voting for the 25 on the basis of the *front* view, therefore.

And yeah, it's been said --- but really FANTASTIC pants.

The tally so far: 6 votes for the smaller size.
2 votes for the bigger size.
4 votes that are sort of tied -- saying front looks better in the bigger size, back looks better in smaller size.

Here's my take: I like the legs and rear of the 25s. To me there is a lot of bunching on the 26s, the legs are quite a bit looser.
I don't care about the loose rear of the 26s because I am on team front side.

I prefer the way the 26s look in front.

Both are equally comfortable. The slight pulling around the hips in the 25 bugs me, but I can add a button to the cross over waist band that reduces a lot of the pulling.

I need to sleep on this. And see if Angie has an opinion.

How I would wear this: similar to my first thread.

Another thought: I believe this fabric stretches out. I already see some stretching with the 25s. Both of these I tried on with silky long underwear underneath. It's suddenly cold here.

Pretty much what annagybe said. I like the front view of 26's and back view of 25's. That makes it hard to decide.

Shelley -- I do appreciate your honesty. In fact, both you and Ironkurtin (in my other thread) said the same thing ... "terribly unflattering."

I actually don't think they are so extremely unflattering, I think they are just flattering enough to work. What they lack in "flattering" I think they make up for in the unusual and unexpected which are important to me in my style journey right now.

Something like this feels like modern/abstract art vs. figurative or representative artwork. Ugly to some, beautiful to others.

As we used to say to a friend, they're great "on you". Nothing I could ever wear, but I quite like them on you. I've read the responses, but am sticking with my initial impression of the 25. They still make the point, but not in an as exaggerated manner as the 26.

And I have used the term "flattering enough" many times on YLF. Something has got to look just flattering enough for you to think it's fabulous in an unexpected way. This is how we create an edge.

Shelley, I hear you and IK too. My jodhpur jeans fit similarly to Denise's pants and they are my favourite jeans in the whole world for many reasons. To many they are ugly and unflattering - yet to my eye they are "flattering enough" and look modern.

You look so amazing in these! I think the 25s are perfect, they skim your hips in exactly the right way.

Reading the thoughts on flattery is so interesting, and I completely relate. Figure flattery always comes into the equation, but it cannot trump all in each and every wardrobe decision. I would become so bored with fashion if I were only to settle on pieces and shapes that focused exclusively on this goal.

Well I love them, and am glad I don't have to decide which size. I guess I have a warped way of seeing things because it is not so obvious to me that the back view of the smaller ones is much better. I think it is good, but the bigger ones look fine to me too!
