K/R -- R13 X-Over Waxed Jeans

This is the second pair I've tried. First size was way too big, this is two sizes down. Maybe one size down would be better. (But I'm getting tired of all of these exchanges, I'm shelling out a lot to try these on.) Maybe I should just pass on this look?

Bonus pics of my new DKNY Coco-esque flower clutch. I love it! It's not my usual style, but for $79 for a leather clutch, I feel excited to try a new look. Purchased at TJ Maxx, a great place for leather goods IMO.

So -- is it K or R on the jeans?
What about the purse?

Denise I really like these pants! The fit looks good to me. They are a bit RATE to my eye and I like that they don't sit or drape "perfectly" so to speak. The clutch is stunning. It is different for you but is an eye catching and attractive contrast to your more edgy look. I say keep both:)

I'm on the fence about the pants - the high waist with the dropped crotch that is STIFF rather than slouchy is throwing me off. But I think I'm an outlier. Love the clutch. It's super cute.

Ok I think they're great and I want a pair. But, did you see the review where the person said the wax coating came off in the wash? For that price it would be a deal breaker for me.

These are cool. I love them and can totally see them fitting in with your style.

I've always wanted pants with this style of waistband actually. I tried some on once but the waistband, even when unbuttoned, didn't really fit over my hips. Once they were on, they looked great, but I returned them because I didn't want to have to do contortions every time I went to the bathroom. =P So, assuming these are easy to get on and off, keep!

Those pants are absolutely stunning. Wow.

The reviewer said the wax coating came off when she washed and tumble dried them - I bet it's the dryer that's the problem.

I guess if slouchy is what you are going for, the fit the bill. I have a pair of SAND waxed jeans and no coating has come off from mine but I didn't dry them. I might even have hand washed them. LOVE them! and mine are a bit baggy too

Gah! If I thought for a second that I would look half as good as you in this style, I would try it. I love them, and I don't even love dropped crotch pants!

Una -- I got them for under $300 (still...) during their black friday event, and the SA's have been extending me the same price while I try to find the right size.

OK, I think they pull just a bit around the hips causing the foldover to open (I neatly arranged the fold in some of these pics, not in others). But the foldover bunches on the model too. Sarah I'm with you it's a bit tough with all this rigid, as opposed to soft, fabric in the crotch.

My bf says that I must have p**n*s envy to wear these pants, ha.

I have another pair of coated jeans and even after dry cleaning a little coating came off. I think if you want to maintain the coated look you can DIY it. http://the-coveted.com/blog/20.....0-minutes/

Okay, I'm a spanner. I think those pants are terribly unflattering. To my eye, they are bunching around your hips from both the front and the back, almost like a diaper. I will be honest and say if you buy these, I think they are a passing trend that will date quickly and you will not reach for them next year.

Sorry if I sound harsh amidst all the love, but honestly, I think these are a mistake. and for how much they are?! I say pass.

I'm fainting along with Angie! The bunching doesn't bother me - it's an edgy look any way you slice it in my eye. Super cool. I don't really think it's any kind of mainstream trend right now, so I personally don't think it'll date quickly, if at all.

Well for me it is love at first sight, but I am trying to soberly consider what IK said about their dating quickly. Not sure - I have drop crotch pants from several years ago (harem pants gained easy traction here) and I think they are even more on trend now then they were then. Still love these jeans, but the heart has its reasons...

For me it was total love at first sight, too, and then lust....I would LOVE a pair of those. Wow.

Okay, but one slight wrinkle (so to speak): have you done the sit test? Can you move easily without fussing a whole lot over them? To me that could be an issue. If they only look cool if you place them just so and won't stay that way on their own, that would be really frustrating (to me, personally) at that price point. I get mad at my cheapo skinnies if they need to be pushed back down my calves every time I stand up....but it's one thing at $40 or even $70 to have to fuss a little. It's another thing at that price.

Definitely a big YAY on looks. If the comfort issues Suz raised are a non-concern and the back view (have we seen it? IK mentioned it...?) is not too crumply after sitting down in them a bit---KEEP!
