Not sure about the shoes. Do I need lighter shoes?

So fab on you bj! Fit looks awesome. I want to see footwear other than sneaks tho...but that is just me, I haven't embraced the sneaks look.

Hard to see the detail on my laptop but the fit looks good -- though I think Marley wears hers a bit lower down on her hips, maybe? Not sure. I feel completely unable to suggest footwear for these. I would probably wear booties, but then that is what I pretty much have to wear for half the year.

I like the shape. Very fashionable. You need a broader belt to my eye. Something that fills out the belt loops and looks more deliberate.

On trend with the sneaks. My thumbs are up. Tie away the laces?

I like them on you. I think the sneaks would work better if you showed a little more ankle. At this length they look a little sloppy to me.

Or maybe try some flat strappy sandals?

Out of curiosuity, what is the waist size? 26? 27? My experience with R13 sizing is that it is crazy all over the map.

ik, the waist is 27. i normally wear 27/28 in jbrand. in the r13, if i try hard enough, i can pull the pants off.

Ok, so it's not just me! I find their legs tight and the waists shloopy. I've had some of mine taken in because the last thing I need is my kid yanking my pants off my butt the next time she hangs on my waist.

@Deborah and Kelly: thanks for the moral support. hubs took one look at it and pronounced "it makes you look dumpy." he is so great for the ego.

@Angie: agree i need to wear a more contrasting belt. the loops are deceptively small and will take only up 10 a 1 1/4" width. the brown belt i tried was too brown (of course!). i tried my white belt but it shortened the leg line too much for me.

@Suz, Diana, lisap: if i pulled the pants down farther like Marley, or cuffed higher to show more ankle, my leg line gets too stumpified, at least to my eye. actually, the leg is so long and narrow, i can not cuff it any higher without getting it altered. i think i will try a strappier shoe instead.

IK they are like that on me, I wonder if wearing them lower will help. Because they don't come in at the waist I can take mine off without undoing them.

bj1111, I like the fit on you. They don't photogragh well from the front to me, but that is not how we see them in real life. I also think they are probably JFE by design, and that traditional flattery isn't the point.

Is DH likely to continue to tease you about these pants. I get teased about the miramars (my pants look as dirty as his workpants)

Shedev, I don't own any crossovers, but I have had some standard R13 button-fronts that I had altered. I also have no hips, so YMMV.

I think they are definitely working on you! You can pull these off! If I were you I would think about having them shortened a bit - so that you can cuff them a couple of inches above your ankle bone if you want - or, wear them full-length if you want. I like the shoes (but then, I'm a sneaker fan!) I would follow Angie's advice and tuck in the shoe-laces. That, along with them cuffed just a little bit higher and I think they would be great!
Also - yes, I do wear mine lower on my hips than what you are showing in these pics - and yes, I can pull them down even when they are fully zipped and buttoned. BUT, I can do that with almost all of my jeans - the curse of "flat-butt!"
As far as other shoes go - I have found that booties work really great with them - I've never tried them with sandals.
Hope you keep them and have fun wearing them!

Your hubs eye just hasn't caught up to this look yet. You have to remind him that you are fashion forward! I would also roll them higher on your leg and pair them with a sandal to make the whole look a little lighter and more feminine, personally.
