I’m very focused on toppers, accessories and texture for my wardrobe recently. I saw this Moto which is a color I love and don’t have in a fall/winter structured topper, and when Angie recommended it, I decided to try it. I ordered the small. Like many jackets I try, the torso fit is a bit wide for my frame, and the length may be a smidge short, however, the sleeves aren’t too bad. I am used to sleeves being very short for my long arms, and these come to a decent point, I therefore suspect the sleeves would be long on most. The leather is butter soft, and it has a matte finish. I originally passed this jacket over thinking it was suede, but it is not, it’s leather. I am probably going to keep it, because it looks so good when worn open over my tops. The light grey is the perfect tone with my silvery grey hair. This means I have two new grey leather Moto jackets in a very short time, one dark grey Bernardo jacket that I purchased on sale a few weeks ago, and this one. Since both were purchased at sale prices, I feel okay about keeping them. I could easily have spent much more on one leather jacket, so I am not feeling the need for perfect fits with either. They are good enough. I will try to snap some pictures tomorrow to add to this post.
I also received the Philip Lim skirt that was an Angie pick. I have been trying on high waisted skirts for two months and rejecting them. This could be the one, I will try to post pictures tomorrow.
ETA: More arrived just when I was going to snap pictures so I included everything here.
I love love love the Philip Lim skirt. I played around with it and made a few outfits, changing my glasses, adding a belt, changing the top, adding a sweater, and a stacking doll scarf because it reminded me of a story one of the teens I see told me today, etc.
My next favorite is the Rag and Bone light blue sweater with the pearly buttons on the neck and sleeves. I am not sure if I should size up? The sleeves are plenty long. It reminds me of the Rag and Bone poncho sweater I have, which has a similar neckline, but the poncho is much more fluid and flutters behind me when I walk.
The Aquatalia navy loafers with a small heel are so fun. The orange stitching on top of the shoe is impeccable. It isn't straight. Each stitch starts slightly inside the previous stitch in a perfectly even spaced pattern which travels at an angle along the forefoot. They will be my new rainy day shoes!! Comfy! I prefer the pair that is 1/2 size larger than my usual. I also purchased the Angie recommended Ecco shoes one full size larger than my usual and they are a perfect match for the Halogen leather jacket. I knew to get them larger because I have some Ecco sneakers from last fall that I purchased in person and the instep was too low unless I sized up. The larger size doesn't slip or give me blisters, it seems to work.
I didn't pick the best Jean's for the jacket, the hardware doesn't coordinate with all the buttons, but it's the fit I'm trying to figure out. I also snapped a picture of the Bernardo jacket for comparison. The Bernardo looks a bit odd unzipped maybe? The pink silk top is the same style as the yellow Lewit top I showed in another NAS post. It's not a NAS top, but its newish. I like it, but not necessarily with what I'm wearing here. The Blondo boots here are nice. They seem large and I'm not sure I will keep them. I need to find some thick socks to try with them because I do need a good selection of weather resistant footwear.
The box happily boasts that they are waterproof impermeable. I needed them today when I made a mad dash for the school building through a blinding rainstorm. They would be great for someone with a high volume foot looking for weather resistant booties. I like the taupe color.
The Equipment cashmere duster cardigan is irresistible. Wait, don't I have a couple of those already???!!! Not quite like this one..... I have a thing for grey now that I have grey hair, and this sweater is beautifully long and soft and cozy and it isn't too wide. LOVE!!
The James Perse knit jacket, also grey, is soft and cozy. I want to love it and think it's the sort of thing I would wear on an airplane when I travel or on lazy weekends, but I'm not sure its that fab? I also tried the Boss ponte dress in a mid tone blue. I like the color, but I am not loving the dress. It is a bit shorter than I like. The lining underneath should do a better job of keeping it from clinging and wrinkling. It looks too tight in the picture but it doesn't feel tight at all.
I also included a picture of what I wore today to work. Everyone seemed to like it, especially the necklace. The dress is from Boden. I also tried a Boss crepe blouse, the same color as the dress. I like the color, and the blouse. Maybe not with the J Crew plaid trousers. I think it looked too monotonous. It needs something to perk it up.
