Putting myself out here, need help on body type!

Hi all, I joined a bit back, but have decided to bite the bullet and post a photo to get help on body type. I am wearing black DKNY tights and a Yummie Tummie camisole.

OK, I am 5 foot 5 inches and weigh about 168 lbs. I am a 36C and have a bit of waist definition which is fine, except that I have tummy bulge. Partly due to a C-section 6 1/2 years ago and partly due to being a bit overweight!

Usually my thick curly hair is down and I am wearing contacts, but I thought that if I didn't take a pic tonight, I never would. So here I am, warts and all!

OK, now that I've seen it up here, I feel like the image makes me look squat. I'm not squat, so I don't know if that will affect how you will be able to help me with body type. I kind of felt like I was pear-shaped, but now I don't know.

I don't think you look squat at all. I think you look like a traditional hourglass.

I think you have a pretty shape and bet you look gorgeous in a pencil skirt and pretty top.

First off ,welcome to the angst that is posting a body pic# Congratulations!
Second. You are NOT squat! . The pic you have posted is of a very nicely proportioned lady! You have definition at the waist and your shoulders and hips seem to be in great balance. I am by no means any kind of judge but would classify (I hate that phrase) as an hourglass. with a slight emphasis on your shoulders . I personally love athletic shoulders. You must look awesome in halter styles!

Hourglass and to be specific, I guess a short back? You really need to go on Imogens site and read up there about shapes! So helpful to get started and make a list of do and dont for your particular shape.

Lovely figure! I think hourglass with secondary trait of apple (since you said you are carrying extra weight in the abdomen, although I can't see it in the picture).

Welcome to the forum, SA! You have a lovely figure!
If your hips are a little wider than your shoulders (it's a little hard to tell in the picture because your arms are up) there may be some pear tendencies, but I definitely see waist definition and hourglassy traits too.

If you like, you can bump this thread to get Angie's input after she's back from Chicago.

Gorgeous figure, don't see extra weight at all. You may have poison eye on that...

I am no expert but I think the ladies recommendation of hourglass fits the bill.

I think you're an hourglass with maybe a tiny side order of IT --- and you have BEAUTIFUL arms and legs! So shapely --- just like your lovely, lovely hair!

Agree that it's a smidge hard to be definite given your arm position, but you do look *very* much an Hourglass to me as well.

[I guess there's a possibility of a very slight Triangle/Pear, but if so your shoulder-hip proportions can't be too far apart.]

Lots to play up here...waist, legs, hips, shoulders/arms...whether all at once or bit-by-bit!

You have almost my same stats! I think I'm an hourglass with a smidge of the 2 c section apple tummy too! Beautiful, aren't we? great legs!

Geez, thanks ladies! I should come here more often. I have NEVER received so many compliments in my life! You have made my weekend!

My arms aren't that great as they are flabby. Someone asked if I had a short back, and I think the answer is no. Maybe regular or average? My shirts and tops are sort of long because I like them to help hide my belly. I'm not terribly worried about how my belly looks (I'm a proud mama of three beautiful kids!) as much as I am worried about it for health reasons.

I do agree with the poster who said something about an apple middle due to belly bulge. As I took the pic from the front, it doesn't show, AND I was wearing control-top tights!

Yes, I love wearing dresses, but don't always find the right type. I think a wrap or faux wrap would be nice and would help hide belly bulge.

I think you are an hourglass, maybe an 8 according to Imogene, because I see a somewhat short waist?
