PSA - great little inexpensive dress from Aritzia - wiw 6.15

This dress , which comes in a few other colours ( I'm going back to pick it up in the cobalt blue) was only $65 Cdn - and is terrifically made with a double faced topstitched hem for extra weight, and with a top-stitched drop shoulder and double faced sleeve. 100% cotton, so of course it will need babying in the laundry, but it's so cute and easy , I can live with that. I realize it's probably barely JFE, but for my comfort level, this is ideal. Cute above-the-knee length keeps it out of droopy and boxy territory - I hope/think. Wore it out for drinks last night with some gladiators bought for an emergency event 2 years ago and rarely worn, and a new bright lipstick I'm currently loving . I'm finding I need a brighter lip with this hair....and man do I look tired . Long day . Didn't want to go out , but it was to see friend visiting from Florida who schooled us in the ways of 'gators (re incident at Disney this week) , and American politics.

I plan to wear this dress for day with white Stan Smiths and heavy silver jewellery and 60's pink lipstick.

Suz - yes, a t-shirt knit. And no, anyone can get the discount. I'm not a preferred client - but DD is and I had no idea about the sale until I went to pay. Everything in the store is on sale - different labels have different discounts applied to them.

Vivian - well, I could actually see wearing it for a day wedding - fresh out of the bag, so to speak. (like on it's first wearing) Dressed up with heels and jewellery, it is a substantial enough knit to pass muster in my opinion. Aritzia has quite a few dresses right now, and many are pretty cute. I wasn't looking at dressier ones though so couldn't point out anything in particular.

AM - I look at that denim fringed hem tunic every time I am in the store, but it's really short - would need to be worn over pants or tights. The denim is also on the stiff/heavy side so I figured I'd look like a fat square box in it. But it is SO cute!

Thanks for the review on the denim dress. I was totally envisioning it being really soft denim. I'm not sure I'd for the stiff denim.

A fabulous and very versatile frock, Lisa. Fun to dress up or down. Works for Sporty Luxe and cute over flared crops too. Very affordable.

Cute dress! What kind of babying do you do for 100% cotton? I know it tends to fade and pill over time, but I wasn't aware of anything to prevent that (other than cold water wash, which is my default, and maybe hang to dry?).

Jules - a cold water wash and no dryer.... I guess. (as opposed to my usual MO of washing everything in warm water and chucking it into the dryer - lol )

Chris - this is a Canadian mall chain - now in the US too. Started out with a few stand-alone stores in Vcr and Toronto, then branched out from there.

I'll have to try this on despite my dislike of the loud music at aritzia.
I really like how simple it is. It is like something from COS ( my favorite store that I've never actually bought anything from.

Thanks , friends. I am quite sure that colour the model is wearing does no one any favours , including her. Janet - you'd be surprised. This is a fairly fluid knit, despite it's heaviness. I usually feel huge and shapeless in a square dress too - but somehow this one doesn't make me feel that way. Or, perhaps, ignorance is bliss

Love this dress and it looks great on you! If I had your legs I'd get every color and wear it as my summer uniform. I'm still looking for a longer version that, like Janet said, doesn't make me look huge and shapeless.
