After the Angie-inspired edit, it was time to replace my too-low rise black jeans... and since there was a sale, and I had a gift card, *AND* (most critically) I trust myself to make better sale-purchase decisions post-YLF, I ended up adding a couple of things. This outfit is all new (or new-to-me) stuff, with a couple of new-to-me trends, and the happiness factor is high. I think it could look good with some stacked long necklaces (a la Brooklyn's dark romantic elegance), but I'd need to add a few of those to my collection...

High-rise Express black corset skinny jeans: I don't usually like high-rise pants/jeans on myself (skirt yes, pants no); it usually looks like too long an expanse of lower torso. But I like that these have a distinct wide waistband with corset lacing in the front to break it up. And I'm not giving up my skinny jeans, regardless of trends... they pair too well with boots.

Red cold-shoulder bell-sleeve Express top: I've avoided the cold-shoulder and the exuberant sleeve trends until now, but I like this execution. The slit-sleeves and drape are a little witchy and medieval (positive traits in my book), and the drape is lovely. I'm trying to add a few non-black tops, and this should be appropriate for my office with non-jeans.

Black faux-leather Bagatelle vest: I took a load of edited items to the thrift store to donate yesterday... and walked out with this like-new vest. It can be tied in front or left open, the fabric is soft and luxe-feeling, and it's a bit gothy and elegant. Love at first sight.

Angie-recommended Born combat boots: Love. So comfortable, so practical, such good quality. Thanks, Angie.
