Post-cabin fever shopping--keep or return?

My first shopping trip in ages, and I think I've gotten out of practice. Once again, these all looked so much cuter in the mirror.

1) I have a feeling these banded bottom tops are not my friends. I have several of them that I really love, but I'm not sure they're flattering. Maybe because they simultaneously hug my widest part (hips) and wipe out what little waist I do have?

2) I'm not sure what I was thinking here. It's a pretty color, but not one of my best. And the shape is a bit out there, I know.

3) Express top in white. I thought this would be a nice twist on a basic t-shirt.

4) Same top as 3 in black

I think they all look cute!
LOVE #1. you might just need to get used to it. Looks great to me.
#2 is ok for me but not as good as the rest and I vote pass unless you really love it.
#3 and #4 look great!

I also love 3 and 4 ( btw they don't seem to add to your hips in anyway. )

1 - I want to love it, but something is just not perfect. It seems to swallow you up a bit.

2 - I would love it if it were much longer, but as it is, I would return.

3 and 4 - Great basics that I am now adding to my shopping list.

Hips? What hips? I LOVE 1 and 3 and 4. 2 seems to fit your artsy, bohemian style but I think it's a little too voluminous and I'm kind of "meh" on the color. You rock the banded bottom top! Love your tiny waist in 3 and 4!

You are so not wide enough to worry about the banded hip area! 3-4 are my favorites, but I don't love 2 for all the reasons Kellygirl already mentioned.

I love #3 and 4 on you -- I think they're great! #1 looks really nice too.

#2 I'm not so crazy about. Not nearly as flattering as the others.

I would keep 3 & 4. I kind of like top #1, but I don't know if I would call it a 10.

You look great in #3, white top. Perfectly flattering! I also like it in black (it's just harder to see the nice fold quality because black is so hard to photograph).

I think the striped top is interesting to look at. It looks good on you but does not show your gorgeous figure the way #3 and #4 do. I like the banded look on you. You may or may not want to keep looking for that perfect striped top. So I'm on the fence on this one...

I like #2 as well, being a fan of Boho looks. However, on you, I would tuck it in to show off your nice figure. It would look really cute in high waisted wide leg or flare pants and platform sandals!

3 and 4 are fantastic basics. I don't really care for 2 (I think it's the color along with the length and the blousy 3/4 sleeves), and I would give 1 an 8 rather than a 10. Just my two cents!

3 and 4 look like great layering basics so keep if they fill that hole.
I like the diagonal stripe in #1, it makes an interesting effect here. I am not sure on the shape but I am not friends with banded tops so I may be biased.
#2 does not look right to me - color is not your best and it should be either much shorter or much longer for that volume.

It sounds like everyone feels as I do for the most part. I really want #1 to work, but it just doesn't. I think I'd like it without the band, tunic length, with maybe a self tie or something. So I'm still searching for my striped top. And the more I look at #2, the more I hate it! Seriously, what was I thinking?

Thank you all for looking and sharing your advice. I can't tell you how many things you unknowingly stopped me from even trying on while I was shopping this morning!

I wonder if you couldn't try 1 in a size smaller? I would keep the express tops. I love the white one, so I assume I love the black one, although it is harder to see.

I agree that 1 is just enough off not to be the "10" you say you want...the banded bottom isn't the problem, IMO, so if you wanted it as a layering piece I'd say keep.

I think it's just that -- as mentioned above -- there's a bit too much material at the sides (so instead of looking "blousey" it looks baggy). As suggested, maybe a size down *would* work?

[Though I've also found that that particular to-the-very-edge-of-the-shoulder sleeveless cut makes me look like a big box cough "Rectangle!" cough. Amazing the difference having a slightly more inward cut there can make....]

3 stands out for me, followed by 4.
1 is pretty but doesn't do you justice, and I can't put my finger on what it is.
2 is pretty in itself, but seems to be either too big for someone with a figure like you or too short for anything boho-ish.

LOVE #4 ! With #3 being a close second....really gives you a stunning hourglass figure. #1 is...ok, but doesnt really show off your figure too well....Im not loving #2, I agree with the others that its *not* a keeper.... hey, 50/50 is pretty good results!

Thank you all again for your help. I think I'm going to try pulling the top in #1 down a bit like the model on the site is wearing it to see if that helps. I actually tried the smaller size but it was a light gray color that looked so awful on me that I couldn't really tell if it fit correctly. If pulling it down doesn't work, I may try ordering a smaller size.

Are you sure the tops in #3/4 aren't too long? I am currently PMS-y and it's even more difficult than usual to be objective. I feel like they might make my legs look short, but that could possibly be ridiculous.

I don't think anything could make your legs look short. I really like the last two tops as basics, but not fond of the other two. The 2nd one has a floaty vibe that I know you like; however I feel like the color washes you out a bit.
