Post and Run: K/R floral jeans

I'm on my way to do an exchange for DD's and am bringing the jeans in suspect with me. Cathy posted her floral jeans and they look exceptional on her. Mine are on the other end of the spectrum--kind of on the shabby chic side. Too twee for this 45+ MOTG? I styled them with my light footwear and thought they might be good for spring. What say you? I will be checking in from the road. TIA and honesty appreciated.

They are VERY pretty. I mean that in a good way though. The first outfit is a great, light, white Spring outfit. I love the tonal white on white. And the blue of the jacket in the second outfit looks so pretty with these. It wouldn't normally be my style, but it looks beautiful, ethereal, light and airy on you!

@Raisin: Thank you. I thought I'd try them since I have only blue denim and other dark cargos for spring and summer. It is kind of light though--perhaps too sweet?

I have poison eyes for these pant also, sorry :(. They look too much like upholstery what I see as chair coverings.

I like how these fit you Kelly! And the light color is great for spring. However, I'm not sure about the pattern ... now you've got me thinking slip cover :b If I had these, my instinct would be to toughen them up somehow to offset their sweet nature (but that's the Warrior in me speaking!)

I am sorry that I also don't feel the love for the fabric. Not that it is too twee but feels too much like couch fabric. I do like the fit and love your vest!

I haven't much wise advice to add because I have a poison eye for floral anything. That said, I don't mind these on you. They fit well and are flattering in that department, so I think it's a matter of personal taste regarding the color/pattern. I think the louder patterns scream "Garanimals" and "twee" ... this pattern is muted enough that it almost reads as "lacey" in the pics. Do YOU feel mutton-y in it?

Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate the input. @ann: I agree about the Lacey print. I like them because it is a soft, muted print which I prefer. However, unsure about this print on me. I don't feel MDAL but I do feel sweet which is not something I usually gravitate towards. I think I will return these and continue in my search for not so sweet light colored bottoms! Thanks again!

kellygirl, I think I agree with the "too sweet" pattern on these. I'm going to try the Peruvian Connection Atelier pants (should be on their way). I'm a little worried they will get remarks like "have you been painting?" lol -- but I still really wanted to at least try the printed pants trend. I've never tried their pants before so I have no idea of fit, etc. but I figure why not give it a go.

ETA: Oh, I forgot that I did also try some printed florals from lands end canvas and I really liked the print but the sizing just wasn't right for me (I tried 3 sizes and none felt quite right in the legs - too narrow for me and I have average size legs.)

I like them, but I do really have a thing for printed pants. They have a very summery feel. I think it comes down to how you style them, which you've done great with here. Like them paired with the vest especially, something to give them a bit on an edge. I also like them with the small tuck of the shirt, gives a modern feel.

I think I would like them better if you picked up the darker gray in the print more than you are doing. I see that the boots are about that color but with light reflecting they read lighter--just meaning, you could go darker for footwear and look more grounded. They pants are so light that that would still be very summery. I think they need some unsweetening with the other elements of the outfit and they they would stand out more--not a white T, for example.

I think it's really down to are you happy with them? I like them, however my preference is for something not as light but that's just what I like. Fit is good and they look good on you. Kelly I have a yet to worn pair of floral jeans in yellows and greys...you have inspired me to see if i can break them out today:)

I like them alot! I like the light tonal look of the outfit in 1, the vest takes away some sweetness. I think I'd prefer a plain white t, not one with gathers. The jeans are the only sweet thing in the outfit (besides you that is). I prefer the peeptoes as the break is odd over the boots. Would be very cool with sand-tone sneakers or boots as well.

I like the second styling with the light blue jacket too.

I see you are taking the pants back, but thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth, as I like your taste and how you have styled these pants. I love them. #1 is so in tune with the “all white” look for summer. The utility vest is tough enough to stop the outfit looking too “pretty”, and using a tee is definitely the right idea - you could wear an even plainer style of white knit top here for added toughness. I especially like the shooties (relative to the boots) for their modern and sophisticated feel. And the pants fit you beautifully!
Minor proportion tweaking: I would substitute a sleeveless top for the tee, to avoid the cap sleeves, as you wear sleeveless so well and it is such a flattering silhouette on you. (Sleeveless also does not have the “young” associations that cap sleeves do, if you want to steer clear of “teenage” styles.) These particular cap sleeves sit very high, which gives me the impression that the tee is too small for you and that the sleeves are pulling up at the armholes; though I realise that is probably not the case in IRL.

Before I read all of the other comments and they sway me, I want to say I like these. I like the fit, and I like the soft colors. I think they are pretty and fit you very well. they do onal whites wll, chmbray, and i could seemthem paired with payels. i love the way you have styled them. They do not feel twee to me at all.

I really like these jeans on you Kelly, yes I have the pretty gene, but these are something else, it is like stripping back years of wallpaper to find this old faded print which takes your breath away.

It is a departure for you but you know how to make this work.

Oh, I was so glad to see these comments take a turn because I saw your photos and LOVED these. Was shocked that people didn't like them. I love the light colors on you - and the floral is very pretty (it's impossible to describe it better than Jules!).

IDK, I think they look really good on you and the way you've styled them. There's something about your coloring and the ruggedness of the boots and vest that balance out the pastels and the floral. I actually really like them a lot!

I like them very much, and the peep toe bootie keeps them from being too sweet or too young. The white styling is great, but when I opened up the blue styling, I thought 'Wow'! Well done!

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you are RATE...so no need to rough things up.

I see you are planning to return :(. Had to chime in because I LOVE these on you, especially how you've styled them. They look fresh and gorgeous, and the styling doesn't say "sweet" at all. I think they would be such a versatile addition, especially given your climate. They fit you beautifully too. LOVE!

ETA: Keep in mind that I have two pairs of floral pants and I am not in the least bit sweet :).
