The black and white is a very old reliable styling for me - especially for end of the week when I am getting tired. Pants and flat shoes seem to win out as they are easy to wear. You saw me in slouchies a few days ago. These are my straight legs, worn here as black column with black EF tank. I pop on the white jacket when I arrive at my building (It is 30 degrees aka getting around 90F, and umpteen percent humidity so I am dripping after the walk to work)...

The second photo is what I plan to wear for a short debrief with the execs on Saturday before they fly back around the country. Trying to get the professional yet weekend appropriate look right here. A winter white EF tank, this time with grey slub wide leg linen pants, and a bright cotton cardigan with cream sandals.

Given I bat for Team Trouser, this has been useful for me to reflect that I reach for trousers as I get tired etc etc, and that in fact I have tapered slouchies, straights and wide legs in rotation. I have bootleg jeans and have been considering getting bootleg work pants.

I think both looks are flattering. Love the second look - great color for you and I think you nailed the proportion.

I really like the column of black with the white jacket in #1 and I agree with MLMarge , the proportions work well. In #2 the turquoise really suits you and I love the necklace picking up on your glasses frames and creating a long line. Very nice!

The blue cardigan is such a great color for you! Also love the shape of the white jacket and think it works so well over the all-black base.

Thank you for the votes on trousers! I only started wearing dresses and skirts since ylf and while I like them, they are much fussier to wear for me. So trousers really are my fallback position.

Angie that is a good point on the length of the trouser. Not sure if it is a touch of linen shrinkage over time or they are short. I will check one of your recent posts on length - I think it was on bootcuts etc. I was just about to hem some casual pants when I get home from work so perfect timing.

#1 is just stunning! To my mind black and white is always such a chic combination. #2 is lovely also and I think you hit the right note for a weekend meeting.

It really does help when are able to clearly assess what we reach for and why and also give ourselves permission to wear what we like. You great in pants Jen (all styles that I have seen you in) and you work your proportions perfectly. And wearing a few different styled pants gives some variety.
