PMWIW plus K/R more plaid... - YouLookFab Forum

Dropped one DS off at school in an absolute deluge of rain today. DS2 is still home sick, and getting bored....So when it was time for me to get cleaned up I had to go cozy & snuggly. I thought I was doing an Angie ensemble of grey with cognac accents but I can't find anything to link to.... So I'm wearing an ON tank, F21 grey skinnies, Bobeau wrap cardi (so so so so cuddly), Born combat boots and Coach bag.

I had to duck out to the mall to return my AE stuff (plaid shirt fail) and pick up a couple of books for DS. On my way out of the mall I passed Old Navy and these plaid shirts caught my eye. I apologize, I'm like a dog with a bone with this whole plaid shirt thing. I was quite smitten with Jjsloane's plaid shirt from Old Navy that she posted in these wonderful WIWs:

Those particular colours aren't the best for me, but I really like these ones. However, I am so bad at this whole plaid shirt thing so please let me know your thoughts. To be honest, I quite like it. It's got a pale taupe, berry and either navy or charcoal stripe running through it. Of course anything looks good paired with white BFs...

Impressions? TIA Oh yeah, please disregard strange facial expressions. One was beyond scary so I had to crop out my head. The others are just plain dumb hehe

Laura - seriously that's why I post K/R's; I never even noticed that! Stuff like that doesn't bother me...mind you now that I notice it.... Maybe it would bug me on an expensive shirt. Thanks though!!!

I think it's a great shirt! And I love that big grey cardi too:) Of course, now that Laura pointed out the mismatched plaid on the front , that's all I can see, but for an inexpensive casual shirt, it doesn't bother me either.

I love the colors on you, looks very fresh to my eye. I much prefer the lighter plaid combos to the darker ones, which seem dreary to me sometimes. Thumbs up from me.

Hm. Now that I see the mismatched plaid, I can't unsee it, lol. The colors are fine - maybe not *THE* plaid shirt for you, yet. Did you order one of the Bean shirts? Those are sooo cozy and warm. The difference in flannel weight compared to AE or Old Navy (or GAP or BR) is tremendous.

Madewell has some really nice plaid flannel shirts, too - is there one close by? Excellent colorways, nice and vibrant. I was also really impressed by the heft of their flannel - soft and cozy. Not as luscious as Bean's, but their shirts are longer - not an issue for 5'2" moi, but could potentially be an issue for you!

Speaking of cozy, isn't that Bobeau cardi the best?? And so many color options!

I did order the LLBean. It should arrive next week. We'll see how it works out. I do have a problem with shirts often being too short, or just not long enough. Sadly no Madwell here in Canada that I know of. I'm hesitant to do too much online ordering for these type of shirts since the fit can be so different.

Love the Bobeau cardi. It's such a great layering piece. The asymmetric hem makes every outfit a winner! I love the plaid but the mismatched stripes are kind of annoying. I don't know why the manufacturers can't make them align a little better! YLF!

Love the cardi and the first outfit! The mismatched plaid would bug me - I actually noticed it first on the ON web site, then came back and looked at your photo. I just haven't really had any luck with ON merchandise myself - so I'm hesitant. Only you know if it would bother you.

The madewell flannel I have is nice, BUT they run very small in my experience. Plus they actually have pretty stringent "care" instructions whereas LL Bean shirts are probably much more low maintenance.

Angie - thanks - I'm trying so hard now that I've noticed the mismatched plaid I hope I can get past that. But this might be a fun way to play with a little plaid without breaking the bank.

Wow, good heavens, this one is brilliant and I need it, too, not to mention the Bobeau cardi. I have had that thing in and out of my shopping basket at Nordie's I don't know HOW many times -- and never pounced, but seeing it on you I have to get it. The petite version, though, because this one looks perfect on you and you are much taller than me.

I see what others are saying about the plaid but it is the pocket that isn't matched, right? That wouldn't bother me -- especially if you will often use as a layering piece. I'm going to have to check this one out for myself -- it has my colours in it, after all.

#1 is so casually elegantly cohesive. (Note to self -- get some boots in that colour!! AND a bag!!)

I like it with both booties in #4.

This is great! I saw it at ON and for the price you can't beat it. Plus it will go well with your existing stuff and scratch the itch while you seek perfection.

Suz - I agree - it's mostly the pocket but I also think that the lines are not symmetric around the centre placket so I do see how things aren't lining up. For the price and the colours, I'm not going to fuss. I did think of you, because these really are your colours (which I kinda think work well for me too for the most part - I'd love to have my colours "done" one day). It's sized really big. I'm in a small and almost could have done an XS but the shoulder seams were a bit close for me. (Edited to add - wouldn't it look great under your JCrew Cardi??? )

I have worn the Bobeau a ton. I picked it up over a year ago at nordies in San Fran on a girls' trip. I copied a friend of a friend who is very petite and was trying it on. It looked just as fab on everyone, regardless of height. Hmm I don't remember her having a petite but she for sure was in an XS. Mine's a small. As much as I don't love drape, I do love this one because you can fasten up the button and everything stays put. I've worn it on at least 3 plane trips over the last year. It's cozy and perfect for chilly AC on planes. I saw one on sale for only $19 but I think it was patterned. Mine was $39 on sale. Highly recommend.

Oh darn!! I loved that shirt on you until Laura pointed out the mismatched plaid. Hard to unsee that! Do you think a different piece might have better symmetry? The stock photo looks better. Worth a try.

BTW the first outfit is Angie's summer whites with cognac accents ensemble. She had included a grey top in it, you probably remembered that. Cute cardi!

I've never seen the Bobeau wrap cardigan look so chic. I love the mix of warm and cool colors in #1 -- reminding me to do the same.

As for the ON plaid, it looks great on you and works with a number of pieces. You have my permission to keep!

I love the shirt on you....for the pocket : maybe you can just detach it(sorry,i'm german and can't think of the right word ) if it doesn' t change the feel/ vibe of the shirt too much.
And I just have to say how much I love your kitchen- nice colours and set up:))
