This young lady is so darned cute, and she is a fellow member of Team High Contrast and Team A Lot Going On, but in a super chic and classy way! If I were younger and slimmer and worked in a more casual office, I would dress just. like. her.

This week I discovered http://www.deadfleurette.com/ and this blog really resonates with me. While her style is a bit different from my own, I adore Fleurette's minimal and anti-consumer approach to fashion and how she is so analytical yet inspired. I almost fell out of my chair when I found out that the author is a 19 year old and that English is not her first language! Her blog is so wise, straightforward, confident, and full of great advice. I've been searching for a blogger that is this conscientious.

Mary, as soon as I opened your link my sister goes "wow Kate, she looks like your style! ...except with a creepy look on her face" And proceeded to make the "creepy" model face.

After scrolling down a bit we decided she often has more going on than I like, and needs to smile more, but I'm definitely adding her to my rss feed! She really makes me want to cut my hair... Thanks for sharing!

I have been loving all of the street shots of the fabulous fashion on parade in Milan at the men's spring shows. All of the colors are wonderful, and I love seeing men really going for it, wearing jewelry, mixing patterns, adding quirky details to tailored looks, etc. Lots of women are looking fab too, of course (e.g., Anna Dello Russo). Gorgeous!

Oooh, MaryK - you beat me to it! Petite Early Morning Style was going to be my first suggestion, too! I cannot BELIEVE how many clothes that young woman seems to have in her wardrobe, but she puts them together in terrifically fun ways and does a lot of remixing. Plus, although she is several inches shorter than me, her measurements are very close to mine, so if something looks great on her I can imagine how it might look on me...minus her gorgeous face and youth, that is.

Another that is great for petites especially, but for anyone, really is Alterations Needed. http://www.alterationsneeded.c.....urces.html
I especially like the resources section, because she discusses fit issues, easy and more difficult alterations, and brands that work well for petites. I am really only on the cusp of petite in terms of height, but my frame is small, so I find the advice often applies pretty well to me, too.

The other one that many here know about is Academichic: http://www.academichic.com/

Why do I like? Because they see no contradiction between being smart and having fun with fashion. And because they do not spend a lot on their clothes but still look put-together.

How often do you see Marylin Monroe and Audrey Hepburn in side by side pics--two different styles two different allures? I have been looking for a blog I read a week or so ago where the author suggested AH was the petit (as in not curvy) woman's answer to the bombshell actresses of the 50s --my brain has been chewing off and on over this ever since. But since I couldn't find the blog in a search I found this instead and it is written by a guy on a sports blog--kudos for keeping it clean buddy:

I came across this Youtube video covering hair styling conundrums. Specifically this link on hairdryer 101 was most illuminating. I had no idea that my straight, fine hair needed to be dried a certain way! I'm sure it's old hat to some, but it helped me:

I recently read two articles in my local paper that are truly food for thought. The first one is about a local museum doing an exhibit on military uniforms' influence on fashion:

Who knew that bell bottoms were inspired by Navy uniforms? I also did not know that Chanel was inspired by many aspects of military dress, but after reading that it made sense to me.

More recently, I read that some high-end designers (Gucci, Versace, etc.) are coming out with clothing for tots. Fascinating that these designers must think 1) that the economy is rebounding such that people will be comfortable paying the very high prices for fashion statements for little kids, and 2) that *really* expensive clothing for kids that will outgrow them quickly and also tend to stain/shred clothing on a regular basis is a good idea.
