Just spotted this one (it's an old one, from 2016) - I tend towards uniform dressing by nature, but not because I see it as somehow superior to any other sort of dressing - each to her own, and life would be awfully boring without my more creative style sisters around!

I like the point about how traditionally 'female' hobbies and passions are often written off as frivolous, too ... this bothers me to no end, and it's always good to see it called out!

Has anyone ever mentioned the Temptalia site (temptalia.com)? It is a beauty blog. The woman who writes it tries out makeup and writes a comprehensive review for each item she tries, giving concrete scores in different areas (pigmentation, longevity, etc.). She also lists dupes for items, so if you don't want to spend the big bucks for a high-end item, you can find something very similar from a lower-end brand. I have found the site very useful for when I am considering larger purchases, such as an eyeshadow palette. She also has several lists of favorite products for the year, which can be a helpful resource if you want to buy yourself (or someone else) a fun gift and aren't sure what to get.

Torontogirl, what an interesting post. Thought provoking. I think I am very much a uniform dresser, but not at all for the reasons mentioned in the article..... I might write a separate post on this subject.

The dystopian novel reimagined is genious, I would read the full-length book. Speaking of, I saw they mentioned "Station Eleven" in the intro, I really liked that and have the author's next book on my to-read list.
And now I'm very curious about Schitt's Creek.

Here's an interesting article by Refinery 29 on "I Gave 28 Women 28 Compliments In 28 Days & Not One Was Accepted".

I too have fallen into that trap of not accepting a compliment, possibly due to insecurities I may have had at that time and possibly still do. I realize now we are so hard on ourselves, that maybe we should take that compliment and "savor" it for what it's worth. Plus, I have to remind myself just to say "thank you" to the complimentor (is this even a word?
