The first thing I saw when I looked at this painting was that the young girl is not the central figure but contained in the right forearm of the woman I took to be her mother. (There is the power of projection for you.) So I drafted DD#2 to be photographer today and put DD#1 in front of the camera with me. We took this one in DDs room, but it was plenty sunny. I think the wood floor looks a bit sand colored and although my dress is a more intense color than in the painting, it does look very wavy to me.
