Picasso Challenge 2: Same, But Different

Yesterday I said that I thought I could do another version of the same painting, and thus Angie changed the rules immediately. Be careful what you wish for! So, here I am, with a quite different interpretation of "Young Girl Reading a Book on the Beach".

Today I'm emphasizing the beach part a bit more. The different blues are the sea and sky, and the beiges, greens, pale pink and warm grey is the sand and the colors of her skin. I'm still aiming for smooth and rough textures in today's version.

My outfit:

The sky: Blue chambray dress (even color, ink blue, smooth) This is a new dress from COS.
The sea: Denim jacket (shifts between lighter and darker blue, hints of brown) Old, H&M
The sand: Stone/beige trench (black buttons), shiny warm grey semi-opaque tights (it is March in Norway, after all), watercolor silk scarf. Old BR trench.
The book: Adidas suede sneakers, black with white stripes. Last year.

I am very curious to know what you think. All and any comments are of course welcome. Thank you, Angie for making me stretch a bit.

For Angie: I'm returning my silk track pants today. They don't work well enough with my other pieces to justify the price.

Very nice! I like this with the denim jacket best. The casual jacket echos the playfulness of the sneakers, which mimics the vibe of the painting.

Thank you, everyone! I am so happy that you like my interpretation. I guess this is my take on the double denim-trend, and I really like to pair dresses and skirts with sneakers, so that is another trend I enjoy.

Thank you for your kind words, Angie! You are making me blush just a little. I'm beginning to think that Sporty Luxe is my favorite trend these days. Who knew? I've never been really sporty besides the occasional run or trip to the gym in recent years. When I was young, I made a point of being un-sporty (stupid). I suppose the mix of dressy and casual in this style is so right for my lifestyle and climate, which makes it easy to wear. The dress is hopefully a versatile buy, and I plan to wear it with layers and tights now, and sandals later. It has pockets, too!

The dress will look really nice with black leggings too, Ingunn.

And I echo your feelings about Sport Luxe. It caught me by surprise last year too - how much I LOVED the trend that is. And I am so not sporty. You wear the trend with panache.

Carole, thanks! The scarf is painted or printed silk. I bought is on deep discount several years ago, and it has many of my favorite colors in it.

I agree with Angie and others..you really do sporty luxe well. You captured the colours nicely from the paining and I like the layering. What a lovely scarf that is too.
