Did I mention that we had gorgeous, early-fall weather? Low 60s, sunny and dry. The whole world was out on the sidewalks!

We spent a fair amount of fruitless time in the stunning downtown Anthropologie store. I got to try on the jacket from this post and was glad to discover that the cut was somewhat schlumpy on me (baggy and old-mannish.) We hunted for the dead pony cardigan, hoping to take some amusing photos, but no such luck. Maya tried on a fake-fur-fronted sweater-jacket (PHOTOS 1 & 2) and these shoes and added two more items to her stalking list.

From there, we hit Esprit, where things were tried on but not purchased, and then Talbots, where things were tried on *and* purchased. Somehow we didn't take photos of our purchases, but Lisa got this scarf in the green pattern, and I got
this necklace, both on sale.

One of the best parts of YLF meetups (besides the wonderful company) is getting useful input before making a purchase. It's so great to have people who know what they're talking about say "Yes, definitely!" or "Nope, pass."

As we were leaving Talbot's, our very helpful SA said, "You all look so stylish today! You look like models."

Then over to Second Time Around, a nicer consignment shop. My best "almost amazing" find of the day was a white Anne Fontaine shirt in my size, but we left it behind because it looked a bit discolored and we weren't sure it could be bleached back to life. But Lisa found a Theory denim jacket that fit her perfectly (PHOTO 3), and that (almost) ended our purchasing for the day.

We needed some rejuvenation at that point, so we went to Max Brenner's. It's a restaurant, but their main feature is all things chocolate. We feasted on chocolate fondue, chocolate crepes, and sugar waffles. It's possible that additional chocolate was purchased from their takeout shop, as a souvenir of a glorious day.

It was a treat to spend the day in such good company. Thank you Maya, Lisa, and Tanya for making the trek to my adopted hometown!
