Penny loafers

OK, after swearing that I would never buy a pair of loafers, I am starting to think about getting some penny loafers. Are those considered in style with the new loafer trend, or are they kind of outdated?

Anyone want to recommend a good, moderately priced penny loafer for low-volume feet with a narrow heel?

I think penny loafers are a classic shoe. If you pair them with modern clothes, they will look great. I don't have any recommendations but I think Firecracker just bought a pair. Look for her recent post.

Jeanie, I was thinking that maybe they were classic too. I did find a pair on Zappos that is similar to what I want:

Hi there--it wasn't me, it was Runcarla, here. Your post just made me think of hers. I think her navy ones are cute. Somehow the colored version looks fresher. Or what would you think about cognac? It's such a current color, I think it would be a way to keep the look very "now."

eta: I should add, I agree they are a classic and will work now in whatever color goes with your wardrobe, too.

I had my heart set on burgundy...but we shall see! I have very dark hair, almost black, and the burgundy would bookend well. But I also adore cognac and want to add more of it to my wardrobe this fall.
