I've been mixing more pale colors, patterns, and texture into my outfits recently. Still mostly all black though!
Photo 1: I cut my hair! First time in my life with short hair! I did it myself this fall. I only get my hair cut once a year normally, so I wasn't too concerned when salons closed in March. But for some reason the bug got to me and I chopped it all off. I like it.
Photo 2: I found this silk shirt on Poshmark, labeled as vintage. It was probably sold in the late 90s when I was in college -- I have trouble thinking of that as vintage!
Photo 3: I pulled out this tweed jacket for an important Zoom meeting. I bought it at Zara four years ago but only wore it twice because it was too warm and sweaty. I finally realized that it might be better without the synthetic lining, since the jacket itself is mostly cotton. So I cut out the lining last week and wore it comfortably all day!
Photo 4 - Keep / return: I want a lightweight sweater, and I was especially taken by the oversized polo-neck sweaters I've seen this season. I found a few in cashmere, which is too warm for me, but none in merino. Then I saw a woman wearing this Everlane men's sweater and decided to give it a try. I'm not sure it's best with these jeans -- I love them but they make me look wider -- but the oversized look is basically what I was going for.
Photos 5 & 6: Finally, here are two lilac shirts, neither quite a winner, but I love the color so I thought I'd show them anyway. The first is a men's shirt from Uniqlo's +J re-launch (wheeeeeeee!) and it's just a little too long and narrow for the look I want, so it's going back. A shame, because it's absolutely beautiful tailoring and fabric, a subtle purple stripe. The second is a Zara shirt that is a size too big. I have the same shirt a size smaller in pale green, and it's perfect (though low quality construction). I missed the return window already, so the debate is, sell it new on Poshmark or cut the tags, wash it, and hope it shrinks as much as the green one did.
Photo 7: Bonus cat, excited about my clothing purchases -- or at least their packaging.
