I feel like pastels are somehow one of those things people have violent reactions to, like Oh Gawwwd not pastels!!! I figure they are associated with babies and old people? Not sure what the problem is. Pink also--some women are so violent in their dislike of pink. I think it makes them feel pushed into a gender box? Many of my friends think I need a pink intervention. They are kind of a bunch of tomboys though. It's not like I am Elle out of Legally Blonde. They do succeed, though, in making me feel vaguely ashamed to love my colors. Come to think of it, I really feel I have a much better sense of color than most of my friends. Why do I listen to these people?
I have a (non-tomboy, unbiased) friend who knits baby blankets and other accoutrements in the most beautiful pastel colors. As a gift for me once she offered to make me a full size blanket. I loved the baby pastels soooo much but shame kept me from choosing one of those colors. I chose a natural white reasoning this was "versatile". Silly, silly, silly, Scarlet.
