Pre-emptively, I'm sorry that I'm not a better selfie taker with an actual camera set up with a timer to take full-body clear photos. Just have not made the time to get the camera I don't know how to use (not my department, lol) set up. One day.

Anyways, I LOVE pastels with black. Angie commented that my remark about seeing pastels and black as sophisticated and sharp was not an adjective she'd ever associated with pastels, but I happily disagree. When I dress for work, I prefer higher contrast and sometimes graphic looks. Otherwise I have this fear of fading into the background. Anyways, we had spring for 5 minutes last week, but it was rudely snatched away with a mess of wet snow and cold temps the other day, so boots are a necessity again. I wear this now-vintage (gotta be 10 years old if not older) Banana Republic pink coat about twice a year and get compliments on the colour every single time I wear it. I have another pink coat, but it's a dustier pastel, while this one is a clearer pink (with a floral lining to boot) . In the spirit of today's post, I decided to wear some black and white pieces, black pointy toe boots, and a favourite bracelet/watch combo.

I worry about the coat looking a bit dated as it's quite a sharply tailored cut and longer than I would now wear a coat, but I have to say I still like the strong lapel and shoulder line. I vote Yay for pastels and black Your comments, raised eyebrows, pats on the head etc are always welcome!

boots - Nine West
bracelet - x by Trollbeads

btw - redid the red in my hair again two days ago - it had completely faded to blonde, so I thought I'd do it one more time before summer, when it's impossible to maintain
