Packing for vacation with 30x30

I am trying to decide what to pack for my upcoming 4 weeks vacation and also trying to participate in 30x30 challange at the same time. It is going to be casual and very hot, temp 30-35C. Activities include lounging in my parents backyard, barbecuing, visiting with friends and family, going out for drinks or dinner, some city activities like sightseeing, theatre and shopping, nature excursion with some light hiking, and lots of swimming and relaxing at the beach and swimming pool. This trip has 3 parts in 3 diffrent locations. We will be traveling by car and will be 4 days on the road in total. I will have access to laundry at the first 2 locations, but last leg of the trip is 10 days at family beach resort where I don't want to deal with laundry.
I am currently struggling to reach 30 items. I have created collection in finds with 24 items that includes accessories and shoes.

If I add to it 2 sets of swimwear, 2 sets of sleepwear and a gear rain jacket it is coming to 29 items. I would like to keep one spot open for a versatile casual summer dress that I don't own at the moment but hope to find soon.
What do you think, do I have enough to cover all possibilities? Shoud I add or remove something? Thanks in advance

Well, I am impressed!!!!!!. It looks fabulous.

What I see are six bottoms and six tops with assorted and really nice accessories. I think it looks perfect to my eye.

For me, I would want a few extra tops, I think -- because I sometimes change tops during a day if it is very humid and I am outdoors. I definitely think a dress would be a good addition.

I have a confession to make - I have included in this 24 item collection everything that I own that it is summer casual. Everything else is either too warm or too dressy, mostly both. If I don't count swimwear, sleepwear and gear then I have 6 slots to fill, and I will have to shop for it. Apart from a dress that I have already decided to look for, Suz is right, few more tops will be usefull and probably another shorts will not be a bad idea either. But with all this additional items it does not feel as a challenge to me at all anymore.

Six empty slots!!! YAY for you. And that dress Suz wore is perfect for you and your style!!!!!!! Perhaps you can find something similar? Good luck.

If I eliminate earrings from my 30 items (as per Emily), I have three empty slots. Yay for me.

There is no reason that you must have 30 items. It is just a number. I would never travel with so much. If I take 3 bottoms, it is usually one too many unless I need a skirt, but then I no longer wear shorts. Knowing that it will be hot and mostly casual will also help limit your needs. I am a bit envious that you can work with such a small wardrobe. I can when traveling and hope to carry some of that over to regular life. I am truly tired of my carry-on wardrobe after 3 or 4 weeks but it is worth it not to have big suitcases. Maybe Sterling's 30X30 challenge will help me to find ways to apply this to my closet.

Are evenings likely to be cooler? In that case a linen sweater or cotton might be a good idea for one of the "tops."

I don't think 30 items is too many for travel carry on in summer...I do change a lot in summer, but if you don't have laundry in some places you need to ensure enough tops for that.

Opposite of Joy -- I need a minimum of 3 bottoms or I go insane with boredom/ frustration!! For a month I would ideally like 5...esp. if wanting skirts, shorts, and pants for different activities...

Luckily, the great thing about casual summer clothing -- it packs really small!!

I love your packing list - it co-ordinates beautifully. I would also add 2 or 3 more tops (even just t-shirts), one dress and a light skirt.

Reason why my summer casual capsule is little thin at the moment is that I purged quiet a lot at the end of the last summer, with plans to refresh it this year. But then life happened - family members health issues, work deadlines and home improvement projects put shopping and fashion down the list of priorities. That is why I was not very active on the forum lately also. So I have to pack what I have now but there is nothing wrong with shopping while on vacation
First leg of the trip is my childhood home where my parents still live, and where I still have some ancient clothes stashed away. I may find something useful hidden there also.

Seems that a travel capsule with 30 x 30 is the perfect opportunity to try this out! I love plannng travel capsules...maybe I could pretend I'm going somewhere for 30 days and give it a try;)

I think this 30 x 30 challenge might be ideal for helping you plan future summer purchases. And of course shopping on holiday is wonderful.
