Outfit session - input please!

As promised, I am actually trying on my new buys and doing an outfit creation session (in 30 degree weather!!) to ensure that they work with my wardrobe and life before I keep them. I can often have sale goggles, so your honest feedback is appreciated!

Note- nothing has been ironed and I wore whatever shoes were around - so please forgive that.

Janet had a great idea in her post of putting some photos on the post and some in the comments to keep things organized, so I'm going to do the same.

First up: Rag & Bone wool pants. I was looking for a slimmer pair, but I love the sassiness and style of these - plus the amazing attention to details and trim. I love how the wool drapes and I think they look good as long as I tuck in tops. What do you think? So I look too short waisted?

Next up: theory silk shell. I will wear this with woolen sweaters in winter to add some luxe, sheen and formality to outfits. Does this work?

Next up: club Monaco cashmere slash neck sweater. I adore the simple style of this sweater and I think I'll wear it a lot. Does it work? Is it too high necked on me?

This blush silk Equipment shirt I'm really not sure about. Is it too shiny? I wear a lot of blush so I think it would work well in my wardrobe - but I don't know if it's too busy and shiny for me.

Almost there - theory olive blazer. I like this fit on me, and I'll wear it a lot. But doors it look too fussy? Too many pockets?

Finally: club Monaco fawn sweater with woven detail and rust handbag. I'm inclined to keep as I think they will work with a lot. Thoughts?

I adore the rust shell top! You must keep that. I also like the first trousers a lot. And I think the silk shirt is gorgeous too - I don’t find it busy.

I do think the second pants don’t fit as well and for your luxe look the fit needs to be impeccable.

I like the sweaters but am not quite so sure about the olive blazer. I think simpler would be more refined but it is a nice blazer.

I should add that I think for the silk Equipment shirt - you need to love it. I think it looks fab but return if you have doubts.

Love the CM fawn sweater, handbag and rust shell. I think the Equipment shirt looks fabulous too, and seems to fit well. It doesn’t read too shiny in the photos. I like the idea of the Theory blazer, kind of a cross between a blazer and a utility jacket, but I’m not sure of the fit across the shoulders. Too wide maybe? The Reiss pants might be slightly wide through the thigh, but that’s an easy alteration.

The Rag and Bone pants are absolutely perfect. Look fantastic with the tucked top. I vote keep!
The grey pants are nice, but there is something slightly off with the fit in the pictures. I am absolutely not an expert, but could it be the lenght that makes it look a bit baggy? Maybe adjust the hem to make the pants fall better?
The silk shell is amazing on you, an absolut keeper! It looks fabulous with the knitted sweaters and also gorgeous on its own. I love it with the pants you are wearing too.
I really like the blush silk shirt on you. It is a beautiful piece. It does not overwhelm you or is too busy on you at all. I think it would be a great addition to your wardrobe because of the shiny texture - imagine all the lovely texture outfits and contrasts with knitted sweaters, furry pieces, velvet, wool. I vote keep!
The olive blazer is impeccable on you, what a great piece. Personally, I don’t think it has too many pockets - it is the style of it and it looks great on you. Another question is, however, if it is the style you are going for - quite different from a plain blazer. I think it would look great with turtle neck sweaters. Also over a more simple shirts or tops to let it shine. Fabulous with jeans. Fabulous over a simple dress.... well, I love it.
The rust handbag is perfection. Full stop.
Both the light sweaters are very nice on you. The only question is whether you would wear them over the pants you are wearing in the pictures - they might be better with bottoms with “smoother” flatter waist band IYKWIM - but it is a small detail only.

Well you look gorgeous in everything and kudos for doing this in 30 degrees. I do think some are real standouts. The first pants are fabulous and I love the detail. The tank top is another keeper. The high neck sweater also fabulous. And the equipment silk shirt.
The other items are great but not quite as great. I like the olive blazer but find the pockets somewhat overwhelming.

Yes all looks good to me, except #3 in the first set. Untucked is perhaps too relaxed - or it may be the shape of that particular top, like your waist is in two places.

The only pieces I don't love on you are the grey pants and the CM slash neck sweater. I think the sweater needs someone with quite a broad shoulder line to get the proportion right. I like the R&B pants best with the sweater worn tucked in . The olive blazer will be amazing with jeans too.

i love all the pants, the silk shell and the theory olive blazer and the fawn sweater the rest not as much...i think the blush silk Equipment is underwhelming, i'm not sure about the slash neck sweater, but that's probably just me, i just don't understand the shape...

Oh, what a feast of riches!

The Rag and Bone trousers are GORGEOUS!!! I want a pair! What amazing detailing. Super fun and interesting. A definite keep.

Like others, I'm also a huge fan of the silk shell. And I love the Equipment shirt, too. If you don't think you will wear it, then by all means let it go, but I think it looks spectacular on you.

I also love the bag and I like the olive jacket. I don't find it too fussy -- it is what it is, this is the style -- but if it feels less than fab, let it go.

I like the CM fawn sweater as well. But less sold on the cashmere one -- agree with Lisa P that it might require a broad shoulder line. I'm also less in love with the light grey trousers but agree with Katerina that perhaps adjusting the length would help give a better sense of them.

You look beautiful in everything, though, so it is hard to choose.

That blazer is wonderful!

I agree with Katerina, Lisa P, and Suz above. Everything is beautiful on you, but the light grey pants and slash neck sweater less so.

Rust shell and olive cargo blazer are keepers for sure!! Love those, and they’re right in line with your goal to add more warm colours.

OMG - You guys are so helpful, honestly. I'd never be able to decide this on my own. Is just keep it all, thinking I'd find a way to make it work, and then feel less than fab.

I will try the grey trousers again - pressed and hemmed with safety pins - to see if they work. If not, neck they go. Alas, as much as I love that slash neck sweater, I knew it didn't work for my small and sloping shoulder line. It will go back.

I'm glad everyone likes the R & B pants - they were a last minute impulse buy, but I really like them too. Great for hourglass or pear figures. 100% wool, made in the USA - $465 USD, on sale for $99 CAD. If you are near a Winners, take a look!

I understand the theory blazer is an acquired taste - I will try it on with a few other pants to see if it works. I think I like it though.

I love the Rag & Bone trousers on you, too. Are they in the color that you want to add to your wardrobe?

I do think the slash neck looks a little high. I love the fawn sweater, and think the neckline is much prettier on you.

The light gray pants are not as good a fit as the fabulous ones you are wearing to show the olive blazer. And you said you want narrower legged trousers. They don't seem like a 10 to me. Look for some camel ones instead.

Also love the olive blazer on you. On whether it is too fussy: it looks dynamite with the plain, very elegant trousers you are using as a support act here. And we are in a style moment in which more is more--extreme pattern mixing, etc. So you could pop it over a print blouse and some plaid trousers, too, and be totally chic and on trend.

The Equipment blouse is very pretty on you. But if you don't love it and really look forward to wearing it, let it go back and make room for something you do love.

You have a beautiful figure and absolutely don't look short-waisted.

I like the Rag & Bone pants worn with tucked-in tops.

The silk shell (style as well as colour) looks fab on you.

The silk shirt blouse is lovely. Perhaps best with dark grey or another deep colour, to provide some contrast.

The olive blazer would look even better on you without the two lower pockets. By the way, your olive/brown shoes look so perfect for your style.

I love the Club Monaco sweater on you, tucked as well as untucked.

The light grey pants and the slash neck sweater both look less interesting than your usual style.

Finally, just a tip: A nude bra can be very useful under thin sweaters and other tops.

I mostly agree with the rest, and the first trousers are fab. The detailing makes them exquisite. But I rather like the olive blazer, and I think the issue has more to do with the pants it is paired with than the blazer itself. The picture with the jacket closer- up is much better, making me think that the blazer itself is fine, but the rest of the outfit isn't a good complement for it.

I don’t have much to add, but I feel compelled to respond to all these gorgeous looks! Agree with comments slash-neck sweater and the Reiss pants - you still look fab, but compared to the other pieces they aren’t quite as good. The shell, the R and B pants, the other CM sweater, and the Equipment shirt (love the subtle pattern) are all tens in my book. The Theory jacket is fabulous and I love that olive on you. it doesn’t seem fussy but does have a utility/uniform vibe to it that the other pieces you’ve shown don’t have. But it’s still polished and luxe.

I’m afraid I’m a naysayer on the R&B pants. The fit looks off at the waist, just below the waistband. It could be the angle, or how you’re standing, but the pleats appear to be pulling open. (I will also admit that I have a poison eye for this fit detail on myself, so I may be overly sensitive.)

I agree with the general sentiment about the Reiss trousers- not quite right.

The slash neck does appear too high for you, so glad you’re returning. The blush silk blouse is gorgeous, but I think the print might be a bit too ditzy for where you are heading on this leg of your style journey, so I’m glad you’re leaning toward returning that as well.

The olive jacket is super interesting and different- I really like the styling in #2/3 of this one. BTW, the slim black trousers you’re wearing are gorgeous on you. Beautiful fit, luxurious drape of the fabric.

What Lisa said. The olive jacket is a great piece that will age well even if it’s not as trendy as it is now. Sleek simple supporting acts key is shine as kkards points out.

I’m not feeling the equipment blouse on you.

I love the R&B trousers and wish I had a need for them (but I look horrible in pleats - even though I have the same body descriptors you do, I’m bigger all over and shorter in the torso). They are outstanding on you.

Love the shell and the olive blazer (a little more casual but still nicely refined) and the bag. I’m less fond of the sweaters but maybe that’s the heat talking. The grey trousers pale in comparison to the R&Bs but might be worth exploring the option of altering if they are useful to you.

Olive jacket - I really, really, really like this - but, does it pass the hug test? (Wrap your arms around yourself in a hug to see if the shoulders are comfortable. ). The fit looks good, but the arm length is a tad short - so I'm just wondering about the size. FWIW, I'm going to see if our local Winners has this jacket in stock - I love it that much!

You are onto something with your colour choices. The rust, olive, and millineal pink are gorgeous with your skin and hair. FWIW, I see the 'shiny' shirt as your style. You DO have a few things that have a 'glow' or 'sheen' about them, and I think of that as one of your signitures. Furthermore, the fit is beautiful - looks like it was made for you.

My local Winners had two Frette duvet covers last time I was there! You just never know!

Have only read Carla's comment above but agree with her assessment. The neckline on the Theory shell is beautiful on you. I think the Equipment blouse is magical on you. (Ok, I found two Equipment tops this trip so I might be biased ).

Yes to the Rag and Bone trousers, the rust colored shell, and the CM sweater. I like the idea of the olive blazer but think it is a more masculine look because of the large pockets and think they overwhelm your petite frame. Even thought it looks like it fits perfectly, I would pass on this one. I am not sure about the Equipment blouse, it looks like if may be pulling a little in front, but it may only be a wrinkle. It’s gorgeous though, and if it fits I would keep. I am not a fan of the higher necked sweater or the Reiss trousers. They pale in comparison with the other items and I think you should pass on them. I don’t think it’s just wrinkles with the trousers. I like the higher waistline of the Rag and Bone, and I also like the color and look of the material. It just looks more elegant. The Reiss, just look flat.
