Oh boy. A lot of these words are common around me every day and part of my daily speech: booger, tummy, pee, poop, snack. Can you tell I am surrounded by little ones? I am pretty sure I used all of those today.
Here is just a snapshot from this afternoon:
"Mommy, my tummy really hurts me!"
"Where does it hurt? Do you feel like you are going to throw up?"
"No, but it really hurts. Can you carry me, Mommy?"
"Okay. Do you think you need to poop?"
"I don't know . . . oh, it hurts."
"Do you think your tummy hurts from that big snack of lemon slush? Is is a sharp pain?"
I don't know . . . yes, it's a sharp pain."
"Okay, let's head to the restaurant so you can sit down and let's try using the bathroom there so you can pee and maybe poop."
All this while striding down a VERY busy city street.
Swear words, on the other hand, make me cringe. Our languages are rich enough to express ourselves without them.
