I also hate "veggies." It's so dismissive and insulting. Vegetables deserve more respect. I'd like to hear someone say "meaties" or "grainies." Not happening, I'm sure.
A proper noun that I have loathed for a long time is "Gitmo." I just don't think giving a torture chamber and national embarrassment a folksy nickname is in good taste. At all.
