OT: What's your EDC?

EDC = Every Day Carry

Basically, it's the stuff you carry in your purse/bag/pocket every day whenever you leave the house. Do you carry the same stuff always? Does it depend on the season?

My EDC:

- Folding knife
- Mini flashlight
- Wallet
- Epi-pen
- Mini First Aid Kit
- Lipstick
- Hairbrush/Mirror Combo
- Chapstick
- Mini Bic Lighter
- Pen
- Hand sanitizing wipes
- Lollipops (for the kids)
- Large swiss army knife with corkscrew (never know when a bottle of wine will need opened!)
- A couple of hair bands
- Mini tube of hand lotion
- Compact feminine hygiene product
- Nail file
- Tin of mini altoids

I shove all that into my wristlet, which is my go-to everyday bag.

If I'm going out for a special occasion, I trim down to a tiny clutch and only carry my wallet, flashlight, knife and lipstick. And I swap out the hairbrush for a comb.

Holy cow! How big is your wristlet? I can't believe you fit all that in there, that's very impressive.

I carry money/cards, lipstick, phone. If I know I might be some place that I have some down time, I bring my Kindle. If I'm going out to work, I bring my laptop, notebook and pen along with the other stuff.

I'm so glad I don't have to carry a backpack full of papers and school books anymore! Good riddance!

Oh yeah, I forgot my phone. That's always on me, too.

The wristlet is pretty big... I think 7x9 inches with a gusseted bottom. I had it custom made on Etsy because I wanted a wristlet but couldn't find one big enough to hold all my stuff! LOL

I'm like you! The bag that actually holds my stuff is a 9x6x3 makeup bag.

In the makeup bag:
wallet
id/cc sleeve
collapsible brush/mirror
measuring tape
coin purse
mini lotion

In the coin purse:
lip gloss
breath spray
chapstick
4-5 mini perfume sprays

in my actual purse:
keys
phone
maybe sunglasses

It depends on whether or not I'm going in to the office.

If I'm not, then it's:

Wallet
Kit (glucometer/test strips/lance, lipgloss, nail clipper/file, mini eyedrops for contacts)
iPhone
Compostable doggie bags
Keys

If I am, I add:

Blueline A7 notebook
Memory sticks
Weleda hand lotion
Neutrogena sunblock stick
Multi-color editing pen/pencil
Earphones
Toiletry/med kit (extra inset for insulin pump, disposable "wisp" mini toothbrushes, listerine pocketpak breathmints, mini deodorant, disposable razor, Always thin pad w/ handiwipe)

And square, insulated lunch bag with at least a couple of diet cokes

I have a massive tote, to carry:
-folio of work papers
-work blackberry
-personal phone
-keys
-business card case
-diary (calendar notebook)
-umbrella
-large wallet with pockets for receipts and change
-2 diapers + wipes
-sunglasses
-lunch, when I remember to get it out of the fridge!
-small make-up bag containing mascara, lipstick, foundation, as well as emergency wardrobe items such as safety pin, stain stick, etc.
-extra fold-up tote for shopping!
-and sundry small things like a memory stick, a fold-up mirror, pens

OMG, "EDC" is the best acronym I've heard in a long time!!

My EDC is as follows:

"Kangaroo keeper" that can easily move from purse to purse, containing

emery board
3 lipsticks
business cards
hairbrush w/built-in mirror
wallet
checkbook
mini tape measure
contact lens case
lip gloss
sunglasses
2 pens
handkerchief
migraine meds
iPhone earbuds
reading glasses
keys

Also in my purse,

iPhone
iPad

Most days I also carry a gym bag with my gym clothes and shoes plus hair elastics and hair clips

i keep everything in a Chameleon purse organizer so I can change bags easily.

Great post, I love reading everyone's EDC Last month I discovered the joys of an organizer that can be moved from bag to bag. Heaven for an organizer like myself, with lots of junk to carry. My list of EDC:

Mobile (cell) phone
nail file
lipgloss and lip balm
"sanitary" products
teeny notebook
pencil
tissues
sunglasses
compact/face powder
pretty hanky for excess tropical perspiration
keys
reading glasses
wallet

I am always carrying:

wallet
cell phone
sunglasses (and their case)
keys (with a swiss army knife key chain)
pens
Dr. Bronner's lip balm

I know that this list will be a whole lot longer when I have kids...

ETA: I just looked at the post from 5 months ago and my list is exactly the same, except that I somehow forgot to include my cell phone last time.

I keep it real:
-keys (my house key and my bike lock key)
-iphone
-wallet (zip-around clutch-type)
-lipgloss, lipstick or chapstick
-bus pass

ETA: How do boys do it? Even if I did wear pockets all the time I'm not sure I could fit all this stuff in my pockets...

So interesting! I would like to be stuck with you in an emergency (including one where a drink was required!)

My list is Mummy and Baby related, since I am with my daughter most of the time, I have a bag that caters to the two of us!

Mummy:
Card wallet
Coin/Cash purse
Iphone
keys
pen
small note pad
lip gloss
stain remover wipes (as a result of baby)

Baby Related:
Nappies & wipes
Muslin cloth
Bib
wet face cloth in plastic bag
a snack and a drink cup of water
little plastic spoon
paracetamol (teething!)
teething gel
a couple of toys

Gosh that all sounds so glam...perhaps I do need that wine opener...

learning curve

I realized a few years ago that commuting with my extra large tote bag (complete with umbrella, full-sized book, etc.) was causing me daily shoulder/headaches so I dramatically down-sized. Now my EDC is down to:
- wallet
- keys
- hand sanitizer
- band-aids
- phone

I usually carry a small cross-body bag to further lessen the strain on my shoulders.

I am curious about the measuring tape that a couple of folks mentioned - is this something you use on a regular basis?

I can't speak for others, but I keep a tape measure in my car in case I'm buying furniture or something and need to know if it will fit into the space.

I think men have it easier because they have deeper pockets, they don't mind if the pockets bulge with their EDC, and they don't need to carry lipstick! My hubby carries a
folding knife, a money clip and his keys (which have a small flashlight attached). That's all he needs, 'cause I'm the one carrying the band-aids and the corkscrew! lol

i envy you women who are so prepared. i'm lucky if i remenber to take my wallet on a regular basis!

My EDC --
-Credit card case (cash is zipped into bag inside pocket). You minimize a lot of weight not carrying a big wallet.
- keys
- cell phone
- Aveda lip gloss
- small hand lotion (in winter, in summer it's a small sunscreen).
- pen
- cashmere fingerless gloves (winter)
- sanitary products.
- small container of medications
- small brush
- small hairspray

I'm carrying a large bag now, so these items get reduced if I switch to a clutch.

This is a fun idea for a thread. My everyday stuff I carry in my purse is not as minimal as it could be, but is getting better:
Wallet, cell phone, headphones, used to carry an mp3 player before I got my iPhone, coin purse with tiny travel case of powder and concealer, lipstick, nail clippers, hand sanitizer, glasses cleaning cloth, breath mints, travel tin of Shea butter, keys. Usually my badge for work lives in my purse too.

Re: measuring tape - BananaNutMuffin that makes sense. There have been times when I have missed out on a used furniture bargain because I suspected (but wasn't sure) that it wouldn't fit my car - a tape measure would have answered that for me! Pretty smart to have one of those on hand.

Definitely agree that the men I know carry little because they (without really thinking about it) rely on their female partner to carry all the "emergency" supplies. I have definitely noticed this with (most but not all) moms & dads of young kids.

Right now, on Vacation, I've also added a camera, water bottle, and lightweight scarf.

I so agree, bannannut: a measuring tape is handy. Used to carry a mini one all the time until i lost it. I just got a keyring measuring tape to replace it.

I've got two purse organizers, LOL, for my work bag. I have to confess, I refuse to walk farther than from door to car with that bag. Otherwise, it's wallet, phone, and a pencil case worth of stuff.
