I know we have a few CT members. Just checking also to make sure none of our YLF kiddos were affected?

Senseless tragedy once again. Prayers to all affected.

I just saw this story - my heart nearly stopped because I thought it was my hometown in MA, then saw it was in CT. I have been sitting here with tears running down my face for those kids. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL? Here's what I posted to a friend on FB:

"This makes me sick... I literally feel ill. Was at K's school helping when they had a lockdown drill and the kids all had to hide in the coat area, explaining to me that a bad person walking down the hall with a gun might not see them there. Some of the little ones are scared and cry, because they don't announce that it's a drill until afterward. The fact that they have to know this kind of s*** starting from kg is so awful."

I agree AG. I was also stunned and thinking of my own 7 year old bebe and how the shock of something like this could be a lifelong horror. Truly, truly tragic in the truest sense of the word.

Newtown/Sandy Hook is just a couple of miles from my home, it is an absolutely beautiful, bucolic town. Stunning and tragic.

During the training we had for this sort of drill, the officers explained that while monthly fire drills are mandated, there have been no fatal fires in schools for many many years. Shootings are a different story. Now we have lockdown drills. Awful.

I'm about 45 minutes away from the town, but I'm just sick to my stomach over this. It's inconceivable to me that someone would be capable of something like this.

It was the father of a student - and at least 27 are dead. Principal, psychologist, kids. Makes me think it was a custody fight or something like that. I am so shaken up - who is a parent who shoots SMALL CHILDREN?!

OMG! I just heard about this as well. First of all, prayers to all those affected. I cannot even begin to imagine.

I don't understand how anyone ANYONE can do this sort of thing. It makes me sad and angry.

I remember when my son was 11, his school had a lockdown because there a criminal element just down the street and the police were all over the place - the kids were terrified.

Go home and hug your children.

I have been on the verge of tears all day but trying to hold it together because I'm at work. I have a kindergartener. I don't know what I will say to her to explain this senseless tragedy, but I know I will hold my kids even tighter tonight. I am sick to my stomach and heartbroken for all of these families. So, so sad.

Reading the news stories is hard. This is so sad. I often feel at loss at how cruel and evil humankind can be sometimes. It breaks my heart.

This is so, so sad. What an inconceivable tragedy for those poor families.

I can only imagine how awful it would be to hear about this if you were pregnant. It is bad enough as it is, but with the addition of raging hormones and mama protectiveness at its height...argh.

I find it hard to share this but I had a good friend who was in a custody battle with her ex. He killed their two children & himself. My daughter & all their other school-friends were traumatised. It was particularly difficult for all the kids with scary fathers. My heart goes out to everyone.

This was about 30 years ago CocoLion. She does the best she can (good days & bad ones). I think the worst thing was the guilt, she kept thinking there was something she should have done, but that has eased now. I don't think it is something you ever get over.
