At the end of August I spent some time with my family on the Oregon coast. My pup Lucy came too. As it was her first time on the beach, and prime soft, rock-free sand is rare in the Puget Sound, I tried to spend as much time on the sand as I could.

I essentially lived in Zella activewear: colorful tanks, loose pants-turned-ruched-capris via drawstrings in the legs, and an awesome purple light jacket with a peplum. My old Puma sneakers (which embarrassingly, I found in my car trunk after years being MIA) were great to slip on for the street and off on the beach. I carried a beige and white canvas drawstring bag that is totally not fashionable but is my "kicking around at the dog park" purse-roomy, and I won't cry if water, food, or muddy paws get it dirty.

Lucy had such a blast on the beach. Running through sand, chasing her friend Beau, digging for clams (she didn't find any.)

You may have already seen Lucy enjoying a windstorm on the sand:

Here's a video of her happily digging.

I adore Cannon Beach. The sand is to die for, and I have so many great associations from childhood vacations. I'd love to go back next year.
