Opinion: Almond Calf-skin Ferragamo Vera pump, or Navy Blue Patent?

I want to add a pair of Ferragamo Vera pumps to my wardrobe but am torn as to what color to get.

They are sold in patent and regular leather, the regular being easier to break in (so i am told), but the patent being more beautiful.

I am torn between a "fun" pair of Navy Blue patent ones, or a more conservative Almond colored regular leather pair that would be more for every day.

Which ones work with most of your wardrobe & in your climate? I'd be buying the ones that I could wear more.

I'm not sure why beige would be more "every day" then navy patent. I think both would be equally wearable, with the darker color having a longer "season" .
I agree with caro on this. Which would you get more wear out of with YOUR wardrobe?

I guess I just see the beige ones as being more "neutral" for the office and unobtrusive. The blue ones are stunning but navy seems harder to match and I don't want black. Decisions decisions!
I guess my ultimate decision is also patent versus not. Comfort versus style, haha. The eternal question!

I love patent! I'd probably get black patent for max longevity and versatility and because I always get black but the navy looks like it would really suit you. I keep thinking the nude shoe thing will run its course soon.

I always choose comfortable shoes. I don't know who can focus on work when their feet hurt!

That said, I think the Navy would have a longer season in a cold climate.

Echoing the above but seen why you're drawn to the patent.

It depends on your office but I don't think a navy patent flat is all that obtrusive. And the navy are actually more of a year-round shoe IMO because you can wear them with dark tights/hose/pants whereas the lighter shoe seems more of a warm-weather staple.

FWIW I find patent more uncomfortable in heat (because my feet swell and because patent doesn't breathe) but great in colder temps.

If you go for the navy, try to avoid hitting the back of your shoes on your chair legs. Patent can be fixed but IME it's a bit more of a pain to maintain than regular ole leather.

Thank you for all of the input! I am going to order both pairs and see which I like and play dress up in my closet.

Vix: you bring up an interesting point with the sweating and them being uncomfortable during hotter months.

Looks-wise, I much prefer the navy patent. That said, I want to echo what Vix said about its comfort level or lack thereof in hot weather. In addition to not breathing as well, patent also doesn't stretch/conform the way regular leather does, so if your feet swell in hot weather it will be doubly uncomfortable. On the other hand if you plan to mostly wear with hose or in cooler weather it should be fine.

I have a pair of navy patent shoes that can pass for black, they really only look navy in a bright light. That said, I just like the look of the nude ones better somehow.
