Lots of trends in this outfit: oversized fits, round silhouettes, horseshoe jeans, pieced-denim, short trench, BIG shoulders, fashion sweatshirt, the '80s.

SHORTER lengths and clean lines are very important in order for me to feel great in oversized fits. That's how I managed back in the '80s - and I'm repeating the style strategy. Hence short oversized trench, short oversized top

Oversized topper over oversized top. It's the only way things fit!

My bags and eyewear are effective colour vehicles. This was my first Furla. 11 years old, and looks almost new. Thank you Italy, for making impeccable handbags that go the distance.

New items:

New jeans bought in Dec with a fab friend in Los Angeles.
New sweatshirt bought with a fab friend in Seattle.
New trench coat bought with a fab friend in Seattle.
New belt bought online alone by boring me.

LOVE my new stash!!!

Jeans, coat and belt are WARDROBE ESSENTIALS, which I'm making a point of refreshing this year.

I love dramatic wardrobe pieces and outfits. This is how to make a basic sweatshirt anything but basic, and it’s why I’m loving BR right now. Their pieces are wearable, but interesting. Same with the jeans, and I dearly love statement denim. I like that your footwear and belt work together with your hair, but then you shifted gears with a different color handbag and eyeglasses. Everything works together, obviously, but I would love to hear how you decided on this bag and these eyeglasses. Fab outfit, and fab new trench! All in all, it’s just a really fun look and a visual treat, including the appearance of the cutest sidekicks.

to answer your questions:

I tend to pick red specs when I wear a completely neutral outfit. Like here. I would have normally added a red bag - it's a fab match with the specs! And red is "a neutral" to me. That said, I thought - why not pile on another blue! Which meant a light blue or turquoise bag (I have both). I chose the turquoise simply because I was in the mood for brighter than light blue today. Emotional!

*ETA: a red bag would be punchier, yet I stuck with blue. Followed my mood.

What I love is that when you commit to something, you’re all in! I completely understand the need for an oversized topper over the oversized tops. Smart thinking. Cutie pies Sam and Jo, however, remain very not oversized doggies!

Tanya, YES! The trench coat is very roomy. The sleeves of the sweatshirt are soft despite their volume so they collapse into the wide trench coat sleeves. Phew!

Really fun proportions here that you pull off brilliantly!

I love pieced denim. I am tempted by some I’ve seen on the Fabrique website, but I have enough denim, especially since we will quickly be in the summer season when denim is too hot for me anymore!

The twist on the sweatshirt is fun and again, you wear it really well!

I have to confess though, in a recent turn through the shops, I saw so many puffed and bubble sleeves that I sighed. They’re hard to layer unless you have just the right coat — which you clearly do — and honestly I feel like they look all wrong on my body type (wide sleeves with a large chest and a short waist feels all wrong). It’s probably got a lot to do with the fact that they don’t really feel like my style vibe either, LOL. I’m thrilled for those who like these styles, but must the market oversaturate us with these trends? Ah, sorry for the mini rant!

Oh, those trends! If anyone can rock trends, Angie, it’s you! You look so good in every one of them. I cracked up and adored how you described buying your new items…the best, although we know you’re never boring, and how could you be with those little snugglies in photo number 15, likely present, and close by when you were buying online (and can they get any closer‽).

To think that four trend items have that much explosion of style. Impressive.

It does help me to see the cropped trench coat on you for proportion. Those jeans have the wow factor and the style is perfect on you.
