This scarf. I'm trying to recreate the look in #1, but I'm wondering if this particular scarf, or maybe this whole look, is just too prissy for me?

It's not terribly prissy LOOKING, and I think you've got the idea right. Maybe a more fitted top?

I think it may look more polished with a more fitted shirt, or with that shirt tucked in? I think you could work it for sure.

I don't think it's prissy on you at all, the rest of the outfit gives it enough of the casual note if that worries you (I think it shouldn't), but how do you feel?

Also, that scarf is fantastic. It's similar color range like the red top you posted the other day and I love it on you.

It's certainly not too prissy, and I love this idea! I think that in #1, having the shirt tucked in makes the scarf look even longer because it overlaps the hemline by quite a bit (the inspiration scarf is very long and very narrow, as well). Did you try tucking in your shirt? Or even a semi-tuck could work.

I think you should try a more fitted blouse and perhaps a jacket of some type? Denim, blazer or moto jacket even? It would be a "prissy edge!"

I love the scarf and how it is tied, I second a slimmer top so the scarf is the star. With this top there's a tad too much competing volume.

Love that look! For me, part of the power of the targeted look is the vertical line of the long, narrow scarf. It goes all the way down to her upper thigh! Where would you even find a scarf that long?

Other than that, I agree the folks above...a more fitted blouse would probably get you closer to what you want. The colors look great on you and your scarf is gorgeous!

Agree with the posters above -- the scarf is gorgeous on you, just swap in a more fitted shirt and you're good to go!

[I wouldn't rule out trying it with a knit with a lower neckline just for kicks, either -- could be a nice variation.]

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you think I can make the look work, because I really like it. I like the scarf as well, but it's definitely shorter than the inspiration scarf. I was hoping it would work with this top because this is the only white blouse I own, but I think this could be the inspiration I need to look for another one.

Vix, I also want to try it with a scoop/ballet neck t-shirt, but there is a real shortage of good white tees out there right now. Another thing on my list.....

Love the scarf, try the more fitted top, I bet it will look great.

PS I have learnt the hard way not to wear that sort of scarf to work. I shut it in a draw and gave myself whip lash!!

TG, I love it as is, you are chanelling Courtney Cox in that gorgeous colour. Can't wait to see it with a T, too, or as Taylor suggested under a fitted jacket.

I think the scarf looks great! If you didn't want to fully tuck your shirt maybe try it with a semi-tucked look.

I agree with everyone who said a more fitted shirt would work better, but I still like this a lot. Love the scarf tying technique - it's so simple but shows off the pattern in the scarf. I'll be trying that!
