On the topic of gold shoes

...the rose gold girls' sandals I ordered didn't work out.

My 12 year old has these Hanna Andersson gladiator sandals and they looked so fab on her (and had a cushiony footbed) that I ordered them for me. I could use a pair of nice flat sandals that aren't black. It's not a glaring wardrobe hole, but I bet I'd have worn them a lot. Sadly, the back zipper area on the left shoe was really uncomfortable, and I don't want to take the risk.

And now I have to pay money to send them back. Grrrr. THIS is why online shopping is such a tease for us non-Americans!

Bummer! I love rose gold and have an old pair of rose gold sandals -- they're these Cole Haan ones in my Finds. I have them in black and in rose gold, and I wore them to death a few years ago but they're still in decent shape. In fact, after I nearly destroyed the finish on my first pair of rose gold ones by walking around some dirty Texas ranch land three years ago, I ordered a second pair and kept the old ones at the ranch. I find rose gold so versatile and better on my skin tone than yellow gold.

I would like to find a new pair of rose gold sandals in a bit more current style (tried both of the ones below, but no winner yet), so I'll keep an eye out for you too.

Yes, for this term (and I just got my results back -- I got an A+ for my term project! Woohoo! I think I deserve a celebratory pair of gold shoes!). I start back up again first week of May, though -- I'm taking two classes over the summer -- and then I still have one more year to go after that.

Elisabeth, I have the criss-cross pair at home, waiting for me to get a spare moment to consider them more. They're ok, comfort-wise, but not great. No padding whatsoever. Once they are on my feet, they seem to show a lot of toe -- like my entire first few toes are peeking out from the toe opening, and I'm used to a little more toe coverage. I have no problems showing my toes, but somehow the look is a little unbalanced, or I feel like my foot might look like it's slipping forward. They'll probably go back.

I tried the Clergerie pair (foolishly! good thing they didn't work because they are so expensive, but I couldn't resist), and the fit is weird. They definitely run at least a half size small, which is weird for sandals, and the cut sort of pushes my feet to the side so they feel a little like they're going to slip off the sides of the soles.

I love my anthracite Sofft Mirabelle sport sandals from Nordstrom, featured in finds here. They are nicely cushioned and comfortable on my low volume, narrow heeled, average toe box foot. The metallic is somewhat muted and can play well with gold or silver.

Janet, thanks for the in-depth assessments! I was sad to hear that the criss-cross ones are hard and flat (although I guess I can kind of tell from the pictures). I passed the Ugg store the other day and they have a similar pair, but soft and cushy -- you might try those. The only thing was that only one of the cross-straps was gold; the other was a sort of cork finish. It was a deal-breaker for me.
