Oldie outfit 1 Friday 13th - YouLookFab Forum

I posted this on Katerina's original thread but this is since Angie asked for a new post each outfit. Zebra dress is from late 2010. I liked the vintage or retro vibe, or what I saw as that, although it was a new item then. I thought it fitted well around my apple middle as slightly empire line. But I'm not 100% sure that it suits my shape or highlights it too much? Also very memorable, in a way that seems to make me a bit uncomfortable. Hence guessed at only 7 previous wears, 8 now.
The Minx button-up boots are from 2011, my most expensive ever $359. Now at 57 wears. Getting slightly beat up? I have bought a tall black boot replacement which I will show you in time. Will still wear these if slightly beat-up is OK. Earrings are handmade from a craft seller in 2014. At least 2 people have told me they want to eat them since they look like liquorice all-sorts, a type of sweet/lolly/candy. I don't count wears of earrings but since I like monochrome it will be a lot. They are not looking as pristine as they did.

No wonder you kept this dress. It is very flattering. I really like the boots you paired it with, too. If I wore earrings, I would love to find ones like yours.

That’s a great outfit all around! Every detail is excllent. Some outfits are hard to beat and impossible to replace. This looks like a one of a kind sort of outfit. It’s the sort of item to keep because it’s unlikely to go out of style.

Like the earrings too- as long as we are talking oldies- they remind me of opening to twilight zone tv show. Did you get that in your hemisphere many moons ago??

Thanks everyone. I may try to use the outfit more. Efbgen, I have heard of The Twilight Zone but never seen it. I'm intrigued how it could reference my earrings!

I love this dress!! It is not something I typically see you wearing, but WOW. Based on the photo, the dress fits you to perfection. I don't see any fit issues whatsoever.

I understand how you might think of it as too memorable, but it is such a dramatic and flattering look, I would want to be remembered that way.

That is a very nice outfit on you. Everything looks perfect, even the lovely earrings.
I think that for a beautiful outfit that stands out you have to feel comfortable wearing it, maybe it also depends on the occasion? Maybe that is why you have not worn it too often? It is worth keeping and wearing.

OK Jenni- So outfits are not the only "oldie"- apparently so is my brain.
I went looking on youtube for the opening of the twilight zone when my husband pointed out it was not the twilight zone that had that pattern but the tv show of the same time period called the outer limits (equally as scary). But we went looking for it and found only oscilliscope opening so DH and I are thinking it was outer limits closing that had the "swirls showing an effect of falling down a tunnel into a new dimension look."
Glad he remember it too- we can't both be losing our minds.....or can we- apparently we have entered the real "twilight zone-lol

love the boots...they have a 60's go-go feel but still look and feel "now"...
i love the black and white pattern, but to be honest, i'm less sure about the dress, not sure why, but i feel like we've seen you in things that work better for you

I'm with kkards. I appreciate and understand the dress, but think the fit is off. It's a lot of pattern and high contrast colour for you. The boots are great and do not look too worn at all. And I'd eat those earrings too

Interesting divergence of opinion while I have been asleep. Thanks to all. I think this dress will keep its place in my wardrobe for now and I will try to give it a few more wears this winter. Ultimately there is then the situation where you have been staring at an item for a number of years and unless it is a total favourite you may then decide it doesn't deserve its space. I'm not at that point yet but in another year may become so.
