Oh, sure. Like THAT's gonna happen!

But we are flying first class (thank you, DH's frequent flyer miles!) so it won't be as bad as it could be!

OK then we'll have tea/coffee breaks every couple of hours! : )

Unfortunately I won't be able to join.

I have my writing workshop on Saturday, and I'm going to a wedding on Sunday.

I really hope there will be another time I can meet Una, AJ, Aida, and anyone else I haven't met yet. (I'm a little confused about who/what/when, but it all sounds fab!)

MaryK, did you remind him that I am also your future business partner? I am so flattered that he knows who I am! I am plotting to see if I could maybe get the whole morning and lunch with y'all but I don't know if that works in terms of where you'll be. Is a cab an option at all, or am I delusional?

My husband really wants us to have part of the day in the park, but we're not planning to leave for Palm Springs till after dinner.

Tarzy, I'm so sorry we won't be able to meet!

Tarzy, I'll be arriving Friday around 5-ish. Can we meet for dinner?

Una, I totally told him about our future law firm, and our Sequin Friday rule! LOL He thinks i's a sound business plan!

Hey! I just read through this thread and am getting excited - because I live in South Orange County and could probably do part of this weekend. But I'm a little confused about which weekend you all are talking about and what days you are doing what! I'd love to meet up with Rae for a flea market lesson on a Saturday - is that in the works? Also, I'm up for lunch/brunch, etc. with whoever? A.J., Una, MaryK (although she and I are now "old" friends), Aida, Kris - who else?????? I just need someone to post the specific dates, days, plans, etc. so that I can see what I can get away for. I sometimes work on weekends. Also, don't have much money for shopping or "partying" - but I'd really like to get a shopping tutorial from Rae - and meet all the rest of you! What a GREAT idea A.J.!

Marley- I hope you can make it!
It's the weekend of the 14, 15, 16 of October (so not next weekend, but the following one). So far, the Golden West College sawp meet/lunch with Una and shopping at The Block is set for Sunday. We are talking about KBF for Saturday, and since Tara can't come, AJ has asked her about dinner on Friday night.

Marley, so far we only have Sunday, Oct. 16 sketched out.

It starts at the Huntington flea market with Rae. We haven't finalized the time and meeting place yet. I was reading that parking is a big hassle so maybe we can meet somewhere and go in one or two cars. Maybe Rae can recommend a parking spot that is in walking distance to the market? So far I know that the flea market group consists of Rae, Khris and I. MaryK are you in for this?

Then we head to lunch...somewhere...in which Una joins us freshly picked off Anaheim streets by MaryK.

Then we will finish with shopping at The Block in Orange.

I'm arriving Friday in the evening (5-ish) at the John Wayne airport. How about dinner?

Saturday is still up for suggestions. Khris put Knotts Berry Farm on the plate. Anyone up for that?

What about those celebrity consignment stores I've read about somewhere. Where items from shows and movies end up?

Even something as simple as good old fashion bowling is fine with me.

A park picnic? I would luv to be able to sit on grass without worrying about fire ants!!

Oh wow - this sounds like so much fun! I am for sure in on Sunday - but would like to put a plug in for Southcoast Plaza as opposed to The Block at Orange. Southcoast not only is a huge beautiful mall (yes, with an H&M for you AJ) - BUT right across the street from it (and there is a walkway over the street from the plaza), there is a Nordy Rack, a DSW, and a really great Loehman's - as well as an Old Navy, a Marshall's and The Container Store. ALSO, just about a mile down the street from Southcoast is The Lab (anti-mall) where there is an Urban Outfitters, a WONderful eating place, a Buffalo Exchange, and several other fun small boutiquiy kinds of shops - all in a very cool, alternative, artsy kind of environment. Across the street from it are more fun, unique shops. So . . . . if it hasn't yet been set in stone, would you all consider Southcoast Plaza instead of The Block?????

My hotel is not far from Southcoast...I wonder how that happened?! : P So I definitely plan on checking that place out...alone or with company.

Originally the plan was to go to Southcoast, but since Una is staying at Disney, I think we decided that it would be faster to head near her. As long as there is an H&M, I'm happy.

You Southern CAllies (sp?) will have to duke that final decision out. : P

AJ - if I don't have to work that Friday, I would love to meet you for dinner that night! Maybe, if everyone else out-votes me on Southcoast Plaza for Sunday, you and I (and anyone else who wants to join us) could hit Southcoast and The Lab on Friday evening?

I won't know until next week whether or not I have to work that Friday night or not - so if you get other offers, don't wait to hear from me OK? I'll adapt!

Marley, I'd forgotten about the Lab and Gypsy Den and all that! Good call. We could do South Coast/Lab/Metro Point (the area with Nordies Rack) on Saturday... it is a big area to cover, and I can stay out later on Sat. Or Sunday is fine, too. Just thinking out loud. Maybe two days of shopping is too much?

KBF is definitely a fun place - my reservation is that it would eat a chunk out of my shopping budget. I'm more likely to be able to do bowling or a picnic, but don't decide based on my pocketbook, of course. For the picnic idea, Irvine Regional Park has lots of places to picnic/cookout, plus horse rentals. Or maybe hit up a beach town? Newport? Laguna?

Oh I would love to hit Buffalo Exchange. I wasn't planning on joining in the after lunch shopping, but if Buffalo Exchange were the first stop then I would stick around. Maybe you guys want to do south coast plaza Saturday, and then The Lab and the outlets after lunch Sunday? That seems like a lot of shopping to get into one day.

Rae - Shame on you. Is there such a thing as too much shopping?! (That includes window shopping of course.) : P

I would think that Queen Rate would want to shop at The Lab. So we could do that area on Sunday. We'll make sure to hit BE first for Khris. I'm not sure how much time Una can shop. Khris, if we end up shopping The Lab on Saturday because we needed to go to the closer mall to give Una more time, then could you join us on Saturday for a bit?

Una don't you worry about me. I am happy to shop anywhere.

Is the park in Irvine or in Orange? Mapquest came up with several locations.

Rae, I can get you a AAA discounted ticket at KBF for $39.89. But then there's the pricey food costs at the park.

How about this...brunch picnic on Saturday, then shopping. My room has a separate living area so if anyone still wants to hang out we can see what fashion shows are on and gab until the cows come home. : )

Other options, anyone?

Marley, that's a great suggestion you made about SCP, Metro Pointe and the Lab as they are all so close to each other. Restaurants abound, too, like Memphis Grill and so many others. I'm in for the GWC swap meet and lunch, too. AJ, I'm so glad you planned this!!! I'll pass on the KBP stop, but as for group shopping and lunch, count me in.

I pass on KBF also - and have a fundraiser that evening that starts at 5 p.m. - so I may be limited in what I can do on Saturday. I HOPE that I can be involved in the shopping that includes the swap meet, SCP, The Lab and Metro Pointe! Could we do that on Sunday????? (Kris - Buffalo Exchange is at The Lab.)

@AJ and Marley: If you two decide to go for dinner and/or shopping on Friday, maybe I can meet you for the Metro Pointe shopping gig! Just let me know here or with a message. I'm in for Sunday, too!

Sounds like the agenda is:

Friday night: possible dinner for the OC gals
Saturday: Picnic, shopping, gabbing (love gabbing!)
Sunday: Swap meet, lunch w/Una, Lab, SCP/MP

Did I get that right? I hope so, 'cause I like what I see!

AJ, to answer a question I missed before, Irvine park is actually in Orange:
1 Irvine Park Road
Orange, CA 92869
(714)973-6835 or (714)973-3173

If that is too far, there is also Mile Square Park, which I have not visited in something like 10 years, so I cannot vouch for the atmosphere. Personally, I can eat anywhere and am not picky.

Thanks Rae for that nice weekend breakdown!

So I take it that we'll be shopping at the Southcoast area both Saturday and Sunday?

I have no clue about parks over there, so if someone could take the lead on picking one out, then we can plan out what to bring. Thanks! : )

Rae, what time and place should we meet for the flea market? I read that parking is a nightmare. Should we gather in one spot and see how many we can cram in a car or two? Find a parking spot that is a bit of a walk from the flea market?

I've got feelers out to Tarzy, Marley, and Vicki about dinner on Friday. Rae, are you near SCP? Khris, when will you be getting into town?

So excited to be meeting you all!!

I will probably just do the Sunday flea market/lunch with Una/Buffalo Exchange.

The parking lot on the Gothard McFadden end of the swap meet usually has decent parking. You have to walk through the campus, but the school is not all that large. I don't know of a good carpool meetup location... maybe those of you coming from the south could pick up AJ on the way? How does 9:30 or 10:00 sound to arrive at the swap meet?

Got all my flight stuff booked, so I'll be joining Will be available Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday

Yay! So glad you can make it, Aida!!

Oh wow! I'm super thrilled that my desperate plea for some YLF company has now blossomed into a FAB group of 7: Rae, Khris, Una, MaryK, Vicki, Marley and Aida! Squeee! I can't stand it!

Any other LA/OC or out-of-towners that want to come and join us? The more the merrier! : )

Tarzy? Do you have time for some evening gabbing on Saturday?

Oh.

My.

Goodness.

*plonk*

SWEET! I am going to negotiate for extra time - I fear what my husband will demand from me though.

Oh hey, what's the weather/temperature like down there? Must start planning outfits! :}

It has actually be cold (what passes for cold here -- high 60s) and rainy here for the past couple of days. But the forecast for next weekend is sunny and beautiful with highs in the mid to high 80s!

But bring layers for braving the mall A/C!

I am so sad October is the month of weddings. I have one every weekend, no joke. Otherwise I would have tried to join in on this. I'm so jealous - have fun!
