This is just kind of a general post with a few visuals from Christmas in NYC, and my current DYOT mindset around dressing.

Hubs and I spent five days in NY for Christmas and had a great, relaxed time. Even though we had no big agenda, we fit in lots of activity — dinner every night in wonderful restaurants, a day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, attending a broadway show (Book of Mormon, which was a riot!), some shopping, lots of walking, daily morning runs in Central Park...

1-2 we went to an interactive Nutcracker themed cocktail party/performance — they provided festive headgear!

5-9 scenes and favorites from the Met

10 about to go run on a cold morning

11 hubs joking around, modeling the gorgeous suede jacket that was his early birthday present

12 restaurant selfie

13-14 the city is full of decorations and lights for the holiday

15-16 Bryant Park has a nice outdoor market surrounding an ice rink. I admired this handmade purse but didn’t buy it, but I did end up purchasing a couple of inexpensive artisan jewelry pieces for myself and for gifts

17-18 yes, we are goofballs but occasionally take a good picture, LOL

19-20 We took a spin through the new flagship Nordstrom — wow, it’s big, and high-end. Lots of designer stuff we’d never see in the Annapolis store —
These are two bags I lusted after. No purchases made.

21-23 Three recent outfits. I’m relaxing into my style these days, not forcing anything that doesn’t feel good. I put a former favorite pair of three-year-old skinny jeans in the donate pile after pulling them off in distaste the other day — I’m just not feeling the skinny silhouette now! Loving my bootcuts and straight legs and cuts that are slightly on the boyfriend side. I pulled out an old silk shirt (23) for a holiday party and felt good wearing it, even though it’s not the most trendy thing (light is awful in the photo so not as flattering as it looks IRL).

I’m firmly in the camp of DMOT these days and slowing the pace of buying and closet churn. I have plenty and want to SYC as much as I can in the coming months.

Happy new year to all!
