November challenge: SYC - YouLookFab Forum

I don’t really like SYC —because honestly I’m not “shopping” my closet...I’m wearing what I own. But that’s my personal hang up.
Anyway post closet challenge- where I really looked at EVERYTHING, I’m trying to mix it up a little more.
Week 1 was a mixed bag. Weather was all over the place. Work was all over the place. What I wore was kind of boring...

#1 to start November, and get my haircut. Warm day. 60f+.
#2. And the rain blew in-so dressed from the waterproof boots up. Sweater was a reclaimed oldie. Length is working again as rises are higher
#3 Monday and warm and dry again. Washed cotton shirt has a silky feel, but with easy care. And Uniqlo heat tech helps make this shirt work in fall
#4. To vote. And back to rain. So started with the boots again. Had planned on red tee into white, but spilled makeup on it. Boring, but I do love the tuxedo stripe on these jeans
#5 Thursday. Shades of burgundy. Wore this outfit last year with white jeans-I think it popped better that way, but with all the rain and the construction on my block, blue was better choice
#6 Friday!!!! And rain and cold! Started with black waterproof boots and added warm black sweater

Gosh, you wear jeans SO WELL. Love your "boring" outfit in #4, and the boots in #5 are so cool.

Agree that SYC is a bit gimmicky. But "Wear What You Have" doesn't quite have the same ring.

You have a great collection of jeans and wear them well. I am so impressed with your belt collection, and how you co-ordinate your belt to the rest of the outfit.

#4 and #5 are my favourites, that blazer is such a good fit on you and the shades of burgundy are so pretty too.

Your shoes are great and definitely keep your outfits from being dull. Actually there are lots of nice details here: rich colors, fun camouflage pattern, and the blazer is fab.

Im thinking the SYC could be thought of as an alternative to "i see this thing and need to buy it straightaway." Maybe "i see this thing i want, but will look to see what i have similar now." Chances are, that similar thing is a wardrobe orphan, or something you forgot was there. So why havent you reached for it, and if you didnt reach for it why would the new version be more valuable? Or, maybe theres something similar that could be altered easily to make more functional?

thanks for the love of #4...i was thinking of it as boring because i'd worn something similiar but with my white boot and IMO it looked more current and popped. but since it was raining and i wasnt sure if there would be a line to vote, i wanted the waterproof boots....
bijou-i have an slightly obsessive compulsive need to match my belt to my shoes....
