Since we launched the ability to upload photos it has only been available to active members.

But all members and even people who weren't logged in have been able to see the photos. We would like to make things a little more private, so we have decided that from today uploaded photos will also only be visible to active members.

We know that this will make things a little more inconvenient for current active members, who will now need to be logged in to see photos. It also might discourage some potential members because they feel excluded.

We think that this is a trade off that we should make.

Note that even with this new restriction you still shouldn't regard the pictures you upload to be completely private. There is nothing to stop someone signing in and participating for a short while in order to see the photos. And, if they are sufficiently tech savvy, to download them.
