Nordstrom items question - YouLookFab Forum

DH has asked for something for my gift wish list. I am trying to identify one item that is fairly "safe", meaning I am unlikely to have to return it. At the same time, I am thinking of using Nordstrom because of their nice return policies and good quality. I don't have a store nearby so cannot try things on.

Only Mine cashmere v-neck sweaters - any thoughts on fit or sizing? I am a small in most of their lines, a medium-to-large in Classiques Entier, a 6 or 8 in Ann Taylor tops. Would a small or a medium be better? Also, as an apple, I occasionally have trouble with ribbed-bottom sweaters making me look slightly pregnant. I noticed one reviewer on Nordstrom website mentioning a similar issue with these sweaters (bunching up near the waist). Any experience with that?

I was also looking at a tuxedo jacket http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/fr.....wordsearch . I have a navy blazer from this line (in a Large, since this is a junior brand), and it fits perfectly. I usually wear it to work; I am thinking the tuxedo jacket would be a nice item to have for going out.

Which of these items would you pick? Any first-hand experiences with these?

Frenchi runs small IMO because it's a juniors line .. . I had a couple of things in college and wore a large. That jacket is super cute BTW! Do you have any plans on how you'd wear it?

Those only mine sweaters look nice, but the reviews say they pill. Are you ok with having a sweater for only 1 season? I love the tux jacket. I would size way up!!

I want to say Una recently got the Frenchi jacket, or at least *a* Frenchi jacket. Maybe she has some insight for you.

Yes, I have read about the pilling issue and it bugs me, too. I have not had any cashmere sweaters so I did a bit of research online. Apparently, all cashmere pills but higher qulity cashmere will be de-fuzzed eventually and will last for a long time while lower quality will continue to pill and look bad. Apparently, this is also the reason why lower cost cashmere ($200 and under) is often dry-clean only - the fibers in the lower quality cashmere are not strong enough to withstand washing.

I have also read that almost all under-$200 or under $300 cashmere is about the same quality - JCrew, Nordstrom etc. Not sure if that is true.

For the tuxedo jacket, I would probably wear it similarly to the other Frenchi jacket I have. So I am trying to determine whether this is too much of a duplication. On the other hand, the tuxedo jacket looks more "fun" and would work with a slightly different range of colors than the navy.

I have the jacket and highly recommend it. It's supercute and nicely made for a juniors item. I got it in the large because of my linebacker shoulders, otherwise I could have fit an M. Here's a link to an outfit post:

Oh, Una, thank you so much for the outfit link! The jacket looks great on you. For some reason it had not occurred to me that it could be worn over a tucked-in blouse but I really like that look.

Hey, just to add: the Only Mine sweaters are nice but not the highest quality of cashmere (hence the relatively low price). I think they run a little fitted, but I always feel constricted in anything fitted on top. I did see this one which I loved but didn't get:

And the small was a nice fit.

ooo, I was eyeing that jacket just today! Una looks FAB in hers (I missed that outfit post, somehow). I don't know anything about the sweaters. I have a Frenchi sweater that runs very large, but I don't think that's the norm.

I don't know anything about those sweaters, but I also have that jacket, and I really like it.
It's actually my second black tuxedo jacket- the other one is longer and dressier, but they are turning out to be among my favorite, most versatile pieces.

You're welcome! I was sort of hesitant to post mine after seeing Una's killer look with it! That's a hard act to follow! But I think it show's the jacket's versatility for people with different styles and body types.

Parsley, I'm so glad you posted your outfit here because I missed it the first time! I didn't know we were jacket twins, and your look is totally fab and how I'd planned to wear it. Mine only came about due to my totally haphazard morning dressing, not through any cleverness whatsoever, trust me.
