I haven't posted myself in a while and just thought I'd write to hear myself talk

I need some pants---long length--prefer 36 coz I like them to pool a bit at the bottom--this is my backlash from too short hand me downs from when I was a kid. It just so happens that Mr Old Navy sent me an e-mail telling me jeans were on sale. I tried a bunch on and decided that size 6 long is my size but there aren't any left --sad face!!!! There are tons of 6 regular but way too short--bummed--and also had those great red pants but no longs at all--boohoo. Dropped into a number of other jean places but no one sells 36 and 34s still kinda dicey.
I guess we'll try this new Forever XXI that just opened -promises lots of selection from what I gather here---they only sell 32/33 lengths says the SA coz "everyone wears them short--you should check our granny section" WHAT????? I says!!!! What an anvil on the head that was. This real hip place and the chick told me to go to the granny section for long pants----like can I pull them up past my boobs I'm wondering?? Long length not high rise!!!!!!!! I should have followed my instincts and asked the tallest SA LOL. To be fair tho she did say I had a nice shape---I just wish I could wrap it in PANTS!! (did buy a bracelet)
No pants today--will check back at ON for $39 pants another time so no pics of new pants today either. But at least I didn't 'settle' for something as I usually would--smiley face!

Yes, too bad when you gave it a good effort and came up empty handed (and feeling insulted!). But I agree about checking ON online - now that you know you're a 6L. I think you can return online purchases to a store within 45 days.

Don't know if my search will stay with this link, but there were 50 items to look at in "Jeans" in 6L - including red jeggings

Also, what an idiot saleslady. And does Old Navy really call it the Granny Section?! What marketing fool came up with *that* one?

You should _absolutely_ be congratulated on not settling for less than perfect!~

I'd always known that F21 skimps on quality, but it sounds like the quality of the SAs' training might be a bit lacking too! I can't tell whether she was calling you a granny or calling a section of the store "granny", but either way that's not the way to sell clothes!

Oh, I hate that! I have the opposite problem - short-leg-itis where my jeans used to pool all over the floor. Here's to the next shopping trip bringing you the holy-grail of pants!

Sara--That was the exact search I found that got me so excited about going to ON after the e-mail ad and thought for sure I'd walk out with something! Tons of stock. Just no 6 longs at the time. And I am being picky aswell--I'd like more tradition coloured blue jean to start but would consider the red or greys after I found a fit.
Amyrey and Inge: I don't shop on-line at all and need to try stuff on just to be sure. I sure would be easier tho as I am easily overwhelmed in stores.
I had totally forgot about that hem length site!! Just being able to see the names and styles and prices gives me a good idea of what to look for when we head back to the mall.

And Sara--The SA at XX1 was helpful and cheery--she did find a trouser that was longish enuff but told me it wasn't my style. HUH??? I just met you like fifteen feet ago!!!?????LOL!!!! She said they might be too professional for a stay at home mom maybe try the yoga pants downstairs. I could only laugh and shake my head!

IronKurtin--it is Forever 21 that apparently has a "Glittery Granny" section or some stylish adjective fore worded name.
Charmian--The store just opened on Monday and I think they are still in training. I wasn't as offended as I have been in the past and just cut them some slack--these girls weren't stuck up about stuff either it was just kinda ridiculous is all.
When the SA, who was trying to be helpful but the ditch just kept getting deeper---said can I show you where to go?? and started to lead us out of the store I thought she was going to take me down the hall but the place is so big it turned out to be another room. I didn't want her to loose her job showing me another store lol.
KP--send your extra length pieces here!!! ;=)

I am sorry you had this pants problem. Pants shopping is so difficult. Why this has to be, I do not know.

I'm certainly not special----> I'm not terribly long legged, I'm not skinny minnie, have no bum, I don't haven't wide hips-- maybe a little fat on the hams--- I just want a little LENGTH!!!!! hahahaha That doesn't cost a hundred bucks.

Patty, hugs! Sounds like my own pants hunting. I find it outrageous that Gap and BR do not carry Tall sizes in Canada AT ALL - and even Long are pretty scarce. It's like we do not have tall women in Canada - oh, don't get me started on this...
Have you tries Tall Girl - or Long Tall Sally as they call it now? They have pants with inseams up to 38. They will be more expensive that ON but it is worth it to have well fitting and long enough for PPL pants - and they have sales and online shipping too.

Patty-- I feel your pain. I need a 36 to be able to wear a jean with my flattest shoes. I can't wear 1.5 or 2 inch heels (this includes cowboy boots) without a 37 or 38.

Unfortunately, I have to shop online.

The other option for plain bootcut jeans (usually on the casual side) is to go the western wear route, which will have a bountiful 36" selection.

Also, some stores will allow you to order in-store for the sizes they don't carry or might not have in stock at your store. You can try on jeans in a too-short length and then ask at the counter or call customer service to see if they can send a few pairs in a longer inseam to your counter to be held in your name.

Sveta--true on the "don't get me started" !!!! My rant started yesterday morning with my husband on our way to ON when I was so hopeful--and almost exactly as you said--it's like like we do not have tall women in Canada!--I think I was quoting you!!
But like I said--I am going to try again there coz I believe they were just out of stock. I really like their skinny with flare bottoms and they HAVE to be long enuff!
And I will try Long Tall Sally--I get their e-mail all the time and a catalogue. There is a store in Mississauga I'll get to eventually. I thought of them yesterday also--when one of the stores I was in said there was an in store 3 hour only special --another 30% reduced on the already 50% reduced price on all dresses in the store at Cleo but what i liked had waist bands and tapering at the waist that were too high for me.
DressLover__I spent my summer in skirts and dresses and going back to pants has been hard for me surprisingly. I thrifted some dresses to try for winter and I am looking for interesting LONG tights now. I really liked the look of the Spanks Michelle told us about a couple days ago and will be looking to try a pair. And a course want to get a pair of beige to draw cartoons on like Andreas cartoony tights.
And I also need long tops to layer under a couple dresses.
Elly--I just discovered cowboy cut jeans myself when I was looking for the cowboy shoes I like. I was pleasantly surprised to see they were longer and it only makes sense to sell pants that cater to healed boots in that store! I'll check that out too when we get there--it's a little off the beaten trail when we go back to visit family so it's just a matter of time now before we go back that way. Thanks for reminding me!

You know--it used to be sleeve lengths that made shopping hard for me now that is the least of my problems LOL!

Have you tried ON online then? If they have long sizes they should be more readily online than in the store.
Where do you live in Ontario? I am planning a Toronto YLF get-together in October or November - are you close enough to come? I am dying to meet you in person!

Weird! I Googled F21 Granny and actually got a result for Granny Glam as a trend they're pushing... and to be fair to the SA, the line includes lots of cropped/ankle length pants. So it's not really her fault, I don't think, but F21's marketing campaign sure did make her come off as a jerk...

It's like the time some girl at a mall kiosk tried to sell me skin cream by insulting my complexion.

Geez I wish she'd have shown me that section--that's pretty much the look I walked in with!
Like I said it's a new store --she'll hone her delivery and I'll get more familiar with the store--I've got a feeling my daughter is gonna go nuts in there!

Yikes Rae!! Not a way to drum up business! I have a gut feeling that kiosk businesses are the snake oil salesmen of today---the old "Trouble in River City" routine.
