I think it's just interesting to consider what colors of tights and boots work or don't, and for that matter tights with any kind of footwear (opaque tights), not even in the "fashion correct" sense but what any individual likes--what is pleasing to the eye, what is good matchy-matchy and what is good contrast.
So for example, shown are cognac boots, and so what color tights work? For me that isn't likely a cognac or tan tight--I think they can skew sickly. Even gray tights can be fraught--they seem to work better if have some texture, as in intentional sweater-y types vs. flat gray.
Maybe some people would prefer any other sort of lower-contrast--steel-blue-gray, or burgundy, or something tweedy.
Or what to wear with burgundy or "marsala" booties?
Anyhoo, in winter, opaque or fleece tights are my ticket to wearing skirts and dresses during parts of our winter; actually I haven't found my shootie/booite-HEWI so I am wearing oxfords, loafers and slipper flats, and so I do find myself giving a lot of thought to what combinations work, what skirt, shoes, tights, for my age and work situation and how to wear something that is not black. Recently I tried Cordovan loafers with nearly-matching burgundy tights and liked that.
