Newish denim skirt

I bought this skirt a few months ago, but felt I needed to lose a few pounds before wearing it so this is it's first outing. I had been looking for ages for a straight denim kirt with no front zip
Your comments and criticism are welcome. It was $4 from the op shop so no great loss if it is rejected. One thing annoys me about it already, but on reflection it is a problem that occurs with many skirts: it fits perfectly on my hips until I start walking and then it creeps up to my natural waist, where it is too loose.

I don't think this jacket works too well - it is just for the A/C

I like the skirt! A denim pencil skirt is such a work horse. I definitely vote keep.

Thanks K. I agree it is a work horse. I wore my last one (bought 5 years ago) a great deal, and still wear it, but I was annoyed by the way the front zip made my tummy look.

Do you think it looks too tight around the thighs?

I think it looks good. I like my above-the-knee skirts to be tight, so your skirt doesn't look too tight to me. :^)

I think the skirt looks good, Anne - not too tight to my eye. That outfit gives you a very hourglass shape. I know you were suggesting in another thread that you might be a rectangle, but I can definitely see a waist in this combination!

Fun skirt and I like it with the topper too. I find skirts that are big in the waist creep up when I walk. Perhaps you need a waist alteration?

It looks like a really good fit but if it creeps up, that would annoy the heck out of me. A denim skirt is a great basic to have. I really like your necklace

Glad you found the skirt without the front zip. See how much smoother it makes you look? I knew it was the zipper, not you, that was the issue.

I think it looks fantastic on you! Although having to continually adjust the waist would eventually be a deal-breaker for me.

I think it looks great on you, and not too tight at all! Your tummy looks smooth and flat. I think you'll find this very versatile all summer, and how great that you op shopped it! The same thing happens with me and skirts like this and usually I just deal with it (the dreaded skirt creep). You could take in the waist, but then you'd loose some length. I think it's more about the design of the pencil skirt in general that causes them to ride up. I remember wearing dirndyls and A-lines that had a separate waistband back in the day, and never had them shift around. Anyway, this skirt will be great for work and you can dress it down for casual. I love the outfit you've shown here with the necklace; perfect!

I think there was a post recently about the skirt slipping issue, I couldn't find it, but maybe someone else remembers it
Anyway, I like this skirt alot, and I really see this being a work horse. For fall, it would look great with some boots,or tights and flats. What a great $4 find!

My only denim skirt has a front zip but it doesn't worry me because it gives a more casual feel.
I can see the difference not having it makes though, and as a result you will wear this skirt more often.

Thanks everyone, and sorry for taking so long to get back to this thread - I have had a busy few days.
Lyn I think I will keep my zipped denim skirt too - as you say it is a bit more casual, and this may not be an exact duplicate for its function in my wardrobe

Khards and Lisa- I think I remember the skirt slipping article, but I think as Claire said, the solution (taking in the waist so it fits at the waist) would involved shortening the length.

Suz and Sharon - yes I know I don't look like a rectangle in this outfit! I think what I was responding to is the idea, sparked off from comment of Angie's, that you know you are a rectangle when you need to go body con to look like you have curves (not an exact quote). I CAN look much straighter, especially on the top half.
