New scarf

I have done very little shopping these past 14 months, but I have bought a couple of new scarves lately. I would like to share the favorite one with you. It is called Aloha and made by Givenchy. Slightly larger than the classic 90x90 cm (I think it is 110x110), the fabric is a mix of silk and cotton.
I love the large number of colors - all the different shades of blue going from green to almost purple and pink. I also love that there is black in the scarf to connect it to my black clothes. The scarf looks very different depending on how it is folded - so it is like having several different scarves. I really like wearing it and feel fab in it.

How about you? Any new scarves or fun accessories lately?

Oh, so nice to see you again, Katerina! The scarf is gorgeous, and you look wonderful as always.

About a month ago I bought this Alexander McQueen scarf after searching fruitlessly for a style that carried into spring, with pale blue and white plus darker shades of blue and black. This pattern stole my heart, so I stalked it on Poshmark.

Katerina, you are killing it with the cool co-ordinating shades! I love black and blue too. Probably one of my favourite colour combinations.

I’m waiting for the latest ‘stay at home’ orders to lift (projected for May 20). I’ve discovered an antique shop with a dresser drawer full of gorgeous old silk scarves. I want to spend a quiet afternoon rifling through those drawers to source a ‘present’ for myself after the lockdown ends.

A dresser full of gorgeous old silk scarves!!! You must take me with you, Carla, it would be such a fun afternoon, the two of us exploring the drawers …

Ooh, your Kenzo has a bit of a pop art feel, I love it! And it looks great with both the black and the orchid.
You should watch on YOOX, you could find a McQueen for a steal.

Such beautiful scarves on this thread. And Katerina your sunglasses collection is amazing too! I have a fairly big collection of silk scarves for a rare scarf wearer, but they are all lucky thrift finds. I love seeing everyone's intentional choices!

Katerina, I have missed seeing you and wow, your new scarf is amazing! I love how you can make it look different depending upon how you tie it. I recently bought a tartan scarf - with matching jacket and shirt and I am wearing these today and snapped a quick picture, apologies that the quality is poor.

And I squealed at Bijou’s tartan mix!

I bought a purple coloured bead necklace from a jewellery maker on Etsy. I liked it so much I asked her to do a custom order in teal. Waiting to receive that now. Very excited!

Oh, what a gorgeous scarf and you styled it brilliantly with blue glasses!.
I have a small collection of silk scarves, mine are mostly from Club Monaco, Massimo Dutti, Eileen Fisher, none from high end brands. And it’s for the best, I would feel bad if I had expensive scarves sitting in my drawers.
Because, this is there they stay for now. I stopped wearing silk scarves for the last couple of years, feels too maximal for me at the moment.
So, my last purchased scarves are solid color cashmere, you know - plain
I have an idea to try some of my silk scarves, which I still love, with black or white t-shirts. How do you style your silk scarves in the summer?

Irina, thank you! It is a great idea to wear silk scarves with black or white t-shirts. I tried to find some pictures of how I wear scarves summertime, but could not find almost any photos, although I do wear scarves all year. I remember that I have the little booklets from Hermes, really old ones, where all the scarves are shown with a white t-shirt. I will go and find it and come back with some good summer styling pictures.

Gorgeous scarf, @Katerina - glad to have you back Is that a shipwreck (or almost wrecked ship) in the waves?

PSA: Silk scarves are a favourite accessory of mine, but I avoided them for a while due to how easily they can snag or come undone when it's windy. I recently discovered these neat 'double sided' magnets that you can stick between your scarf & clothes, to keep it in place without causing any holes with pins/ brooches etc. Just an FYI for anyone else looking for ways to wear their silk scarves more often:

Another trick I use is to 'weigh' the scarf down with a necklace, so it doesn't blow away (this only works with bigger/ longer scarves, though). For example, I wore my green map print scarf (below) with a long teal coconut shell necklace today I haven't found a good match for the purple one yet, though...

Zaeobi, thank you! Yes, it looks like a shipwreck… Thank you for the magnet tips, how clever! I sometimes use a large safety pin (the decorative kind) and pin it onto a knitted top, then wrap the scarf through and around the pin so the pin is covered. This way the scarf stays in place and no need to stick holes in it. Love the maps scarves! Do you have it in both colors?

What a gorgeous scarf and how fab that its pattern varies so you can wear it multiple ways! I love those different shades of blue, and blue + black is a fave combination of mine. Your shades are awesome too!

I love seeing everyone's scarves on this thread, and that triple tartan look is fabulous, Bijou! I have some larger square silk scarves that I mostly wear in the winter; for summer I'm going with a smaller bandanna tied around my neck, if it's not too hot.

Oh! One of the reasons I’m developing a scarf collection, is because I wear them tied as a headscarf to keep my hair under control when DH and I go for a drive in his ‘toy’. With all our travel plans cancelled in 2020, we used some of the money and bought a very old Mercedes. We pack a picnic and go for little day trips. I feel glamourous with my silk scarf tied like Grace Kelly!

@Katerina Yes, I have the map scarf in both colours - I'm a serial duplicator lol

'Wrapping around the safety pin' sounds like a good idea! If yours are anything like mine though, sometimes the scarf gets caught in the 'head' of the pin (the metal casing) or the spiral. Threading a bead or silicone earring back onto the pin can help to avoid any unfortunate snagging (pic attached to show what I mean). Your big safety pin brooch doesn't look like it has this issue, though.
