New playsuit. Courage to wear?

I bought this before Christmas, but haven't worn it out of the house yet.

Straight after Christmas it was too tight, but now, with only a couple of pounds of Christmas weight to lose still, it fits again, though closely.

I am experimenting with Bijou's idea of playsuit instead of shorts.

This outfit is quite a leap for me though, and I am not sure where to wear it apart from picnics. Ideas? And thoughts generally? This was a cheap purchase so don't hold back criticism.
PS yes I know that mirror needs cleaning. Wow.

You look so lovely in that.l think I would wear it as often as you can.Was it Nora Ephron that said she wished that she had worn a bikini every day until she was in her late thirties,the gist of her comment being that when you are young and lovely revel in it and wear all the clothes that you are not going to wear when you are older ,so go for it Anne ,l wish I looked as good in a play suit.

Um... where couldn’t you wear it? I mean besides work, church and movie theaters with heavy a/c... I’d wear this even to dinner in LA, honestly...

You look gorgeous! You know I am going to say wear everywhere.

I bought my playsuits to be substitutes for t-shirts and shorts as I think it is a nice alternative for that. I wear mine on weekends and around the house and out to dog walks, to visit my Dad at his nursing home, to buy groceries etc. If I have friends coming over for a BBQ, I wear it, but my friends are pretty casual.

Janet, you are right that this wouldn't work for the hottest days - too close- fitting. Also it probably wouldn't be what I'd choose for the beach as I'd want shoulder coverage (I didn't manage to find a playsuit that combined sleeves and the neckline I wanted, and even then, this might be a bit awkward to put over wet bathers)

With those two caveats in mind, I was very encouraged by those who've encouraged me to wear it a lot for casual events - especially Bijou's, since she was my inspiration and lives in the same city, so knows the milieu.

I have an almost teenage daughter who took the photo and was a bit surprised as it isn't my normal style so this YLF approval is helpful.

Very cute . Can you get it off and on quickly enough when you need to, if you know what i mean? And I second Janet's suggestion for the sit test. Something that fitted needs to be comfortable too. It does look great on you, Anne, and is very youthful and fun.

It looks good on you! Playsuit can be worn anywhere I guess except for formal events or such! However, the only con of this kind of wear is that you have to take it all off when you need to use the restroom to discharge. That's kind of uncomfortable. But it's one of my favorites, and it's cute!!!!

Now you’ve got me curious Angie - do Australians drink hot tea all day in those hot summers? Do they drink iced tea, which is pretty much on tap in the US, but most often just one of many bottled options here in Canada? I need to know!

Jules, I can't speak for Ozzie culture, but I drink a lot of hot and iced tea on hot Summer days.

Lisa P, I couldn't think of another word for "playsuit", so I went and searched for that term on Nordstroms site. Turns out they call them "rompers". Interesting--I associate that term with toddlers. So I learned something new. Thanks!

Earlier this week I saw my cousin wearing one that was similar. It was navy, and she had a black t-shirt under it. It was a bit cooler that day. I really liked it. You might consider a colored t-shirt under it for cooler days, or for shoulder protection

The conversation about the name is so funny. I associate "playsuit" with toddlers! I see what you mean about "rompers" having that same connotation, but my daughter (who loves to wear these) has always called them rompers, so that's my go-to.

You look really lovely in this one, Anne. I vote WEAR and wear often. So cute for a summery lunch or out shopping ... I love it on you.

It's more like the Canadian situation, ie on of the bottled options. I never drink commercial ice tea and DO drink hot tea all day in the summer!

A few years ago, when I lived in a house with no aircon, on very hot days I would make up some tea in a jug in the morning, with milk (I don't drink milk in my tea now, except if it is Chai, but I did them) and keep it in the fridge. I don't know of anyone else who does this - people are more likely to drink other cold drinks if they want something cold. Ice coffees in cartons are pretty popular, particularly among truckies and tradesmen

Bubble tea is quite popular at the moment - but bought from a shop. My teenaged daughter often has it when she is out with friends.

You look amazing in this! Wear it anywhere you would wear shorts. bring a short cardigan in case of air conditioning. After buying a jumsuit for special occasions, I wonder why manufacturers don't make them zip front! I can manage the back zip on my own, but I might as well take off the hook and eye.

I think it looks great! For future shopping, if you’re still interested in playsuits for the beach/pool, you could look for one in a stretchy loose jersey (like t shirt material). I have one with an elastic waist and it’s great as a bikini coverup— feels much more “normal” than a caftan, which I also have but it makes me feel somewhat ridiculous.

Anne, it’s good to know the other colonies are keeping the traditions alive But I am half American and love real iced tea as well. My southern aunt (meaning southern USA) taught me to make a jug of iced tea from boiling water and three bags, allowed to steep then chilled. I drink this over ice without any milk or sugar and it’s soooo refreshing on a hot summer day. Bubble tea and other Asian verisons are also having a second wave of popularity here, and I actually grabbed an iced green tea with passion fruit flavour today after a trip to the gym, even thought it’s minus 10 or so outside! Now I’m thinking about a nice pot of loose leaf chai
