New items - copycat of Sarah and MaryK -K/R Target dress

I got a couple of new items as a result of reading YLF. One is a striped top from LLBean that MaryK recommended, and I think it's "keep". It seems to fit me better than the Vince Camuto tiered striped t-shirt (sent that back to Nordstrom a few weeks ago).

The other is a shameless copy of this post http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....arget-midi by sarah - I saw that Target still had this dress online so decided to try it. At first I thought it did not work at all with my dark hair but after taking pictures I think it may be OK. I am looking for a really easy to throw on work look for teaching so I don't want to fuss with scarves etc to brighten this up. Does it work as styled? These boots I got a few years ago and almost never wear them. I could also wear the dress with tall grey boots I keep in my office at work. I also still need to get some textured black tights, I think they would be better for this.

Yes, I agree with Kim (QM)! The LLBean top looks just great on you, with the green skirt but also would go with *anything*. The dress is a 100% keeper in my book. I love it on you. It's a no-brainer for teaching. You look amazing Makrame!

Love both -- nice fit, color and proportion, and both are great for teaching. If you have one, I think a simple bracelet (maybe simple silver cuff or bangle) would look great on the wrist in #2 --- I like this sleeve length with the dress.

Meant to add....a great wrist watch would also be a nice touch!

Super duper outfits, Makrame! I love the Breton top with that Halogen skirt. It looks so chic and stylish. The dress is fab too. I don't know how I missed Sarah's post--it looks awesome on both on you! You've got yourself some fab outfits!

I'm so glad (and jealous!) that the LLBean shirt works for you. I LOVE that outfit. And of course I love the Target dress, too. You might also try belting it - I end up doing that a lot, just to mix things up. Great new finds!

Beth Ann, that's a great idea about a watch/bracelet. I used to always wear a simple utilitarian watch but once I started taking pictures of outfits, I realized that it is nice to have a more decorative watch for tops with 3/4 length sleeves. DH gave me a watch with a two-color silver/goldtone bracelet for my birthday last year, and I usually wear that watch with the 3/4 sleeved jacket.

Sarah, thanks for giving me the inspiration for searching out that dress! I tried belting it but I am a little worried about the length of the dress - when belted, it looks slightly above the knee, and I am not sure how long (or short) it is going to be once I wash it. So I might wear it unbelted for teaching and belted for other occasions.

GGB, LLBean always runs big for me so I never buy anything above a small, even though I may be a medium or 6/8 in other brands. This is a small, and I am size 8 in AnnTaylor tops, if that helps. I just washed and dried it so I'll need to try it again to make sure it did not shrink. The knit is very substantial so I think this is going to be a nice transitional top for colder spring days.

For some reason I have been reluctant to wear these boots. These are Nine West riding boots from two or three years ago, with a 2" wedge heel. I think they felt over the top to me when I first bought them because I was not used to wearing tall boots. But now that I have worn flat tall riding boots, I think I have worked up the courage to wear these.

Just a quick note - now that I have washed the LLBean striped t-shirt, I feel like I could have ordered a medium instead of a small. So for anyone interested in these shirts, I would suggest trying your normal size as well as one size down.
