Nothing too exciting here...

#1-Worn to teach - I picked up this jersey shirtdress at Target last weekend. How does this styling work? (ignore the unevenly slouched boots and the appearance that the hem is uneven - I don't think it is IRL) Any other ideas for wearing this dress? (It has 3/4 length roll-tab sleeves)

#2-my new gingham shirt - I was a bit obsessed with trying to pair the purple with red somehow

#3-Worn to teach - trying to get as much wear out of my flats as possible while it's still warm enough!

Love the Target dress! I saw it there myself the other day but didn't have time to try it on. I think it would come above the knee on me since I'm 5'10"... Is it really a midi length on you? I looks like knee length to me. Whatever it is, it looks great and I like it with the jacket.

Outfit #3 is very nice, too. I like the subtle pattern mixing with the top and the shoes. I have similar shoes, so I think I will try something similar.

Devon - yes, I'm using the liberal definition of midi to include "at the knee" lengths, since I'm petite (a la Angie and Laura). I was thinking that this dress would NOT be a midi length on anyone who's not petite LOL!

So nice! I LOVE look #2! The purple and red is fantastic but subtle and something I never would have thought to do....until now! The dress in #1 looks very expensive. I never would have guessed it came from Target. Could you wear the black sweater from #3 with it, too? #1 and #3 are very well-put together and professional. You look beautiful and fab!

Love the Target dress! You could try the black Jacket from 3 over it too. I would try the collar of be dress tucked under the jacket too, not flat. But with the tips of the collar held under the jacket ( sorry not sure if that makes sense). For winter maybe belt a short cardi over the dress. 2 and 3 look great also...I really like the simple elegance of 3.

Sarah, you look beautiful in the Target dress and I love how you styled it! I've been all over roll-tab sleeves lately - love them! Are those the Cole Hahn boots? They look great with the dress!

I love the contrast of the gingham shirt with the green vest in photo #2 and photo #3 really makes me smile! I really love the pairing of the print top with the animal print flats - LOVE!

I really like that Target dress on you. I'd like to see it with a bit lighter weight or lighter color jacket. That one seems to make the whole outfit too heavy and dark.
#3 is great.

The Target midi looks amazing with the new boots, Sarah! That's a great way to add edge. How about we scrunch the sleeves of that blazer a little. That will take the outfit to killer in my mind.

Sarah, #1 is great and #3 is AMAZING!!!! I"m sure your students liked seeing your outfits! Have your colleagues noticed your "new" style?

Question: Do you get hot wearing blazers to teach? I don't know if you are giving a large lecture, but I cannot wear one in front of a class. I think I move around too much, I'm a little nervous, AND our classrooms are overheated! Too bad, as it adds a nice polish to an outfit!

@Debora - yes, those are the Cole Haan boots. It's funny - I was on the fence about them when I first bought them, and now I wear them ALL THE TIME!

@Kim - my jacket collection is somewhat limited, but I'm looking to expand. You get so much wear out of your white jacket. I think I may try something along those lines if the right one comes along.

@Angie - I will scrunch away, especially if means I can achieve killer status! "Euro chic" - I'm quite flattered by that! Thanks.

@Isis - I do wear jackets to teach, and don't find them too hot, but the rooms where I teach don't happen to be very hot. I don't know what I'm going to do when menopause starts, though, which I suppose could be any day ; ) The jacket in #1 is actually pretty lightweight, and the cardi in #3 is cotton, so it's also not that warm. ETA: my colleagues never say ANYTHING about my style, but the grad students and office staff sometimes notice : )

I love all of these, Sarah! The new dress is fab--love it with the tall boots! Dress + jacket + boots is such a winning combo. Love the gingham shirt with the vest, and I think the third look is awesome too.

The Target midi has such a fab pattern! I would try putting a slim turtleneck under it for winter. It would look AWESOME with a cropped leather jacket. The purple and red work really well together. The rough and tough vest is an unexpected choice. I haven't made up my mind on that one, but you look cute in any case. Outfit 3 is completely up my alley. You look so chic! I love the subtle palette, accessories, and the pattern mixing.
