New haircut and ruined bag

The picture is awful but this my new cut. The stylist ruin my redbag.she knock over the bowl of color not once but twice all over my red bag.I am sick. I know it is just a thing and can be replaced.

Great haircut! She owes you some compensation, like free hair coloring or money. That is what I would do. I work at a restaurant and I would take responsibility if I did something like that (or the restaurant would help pay for the damages). If she does not take responsibility, I would go somewhere else.

Your haircut is beautiful but you must be crestfallen regarding the bag. I would be. Even if it is just a *thing*, it is yours and you love it.

I hope that she is replacing it. I am sure that they have insurance for this type of stuff.

OMG, Debbie, your hair is lovely but what is going to happen with your bag? Is it too late to come some arrangement? It was careless of her to have the dye somewhere that it could spill on your bag. Have you thought of asking at a cobbler/leather repairer if it can be redyed, and split the cost with the salon?

We were dining once when a waitress leaned over me and tipped melted butter over my suit! Luckily it came out at the dry cleaners, and the restaurant agreed to pay the bill.

Your hair looks lovely, but OMG, your poor bag! Yes, it's a thing, but it is your property, and it was destroyed... did the stylist not offer to replace it? If she won't do it personally, then the salon should.

I completely agree the salon should compensate you. If it were my business, I'd have paid for your bag and your hair would have been gratis. I'm so sorry that happened!

First of all, I love your hair! It looks wonderful.

And I totally agree with the others that the salon should compensate you for the bag. If you haven't already brought it to the manager/owner's attention, please do so! I know my stylist (who owns the salon) would pay for cleaning or a replacement bag in a heartbeat!

She didn't charge for my hair but offered me nothing on the bag. The manager never came out to speak to me. Even when I asked. I was so mad I forgot to tip her.
It is the red bag in the photos from yesterday.

First - your hair looks wonderful! Lovely cut and color. Second - without a doubt you should ask to speak with the owner or manager of the salon. Your stylist did the right thing by not charging you for your hair but not bringing over the manager when you asked is unacceptable. You should certainly be compensated in some way. And if it's not resolved to your satisfaction then most certainly find another salon! Keep us posted!

What was the value of the bag, and what was the retail cost of the cut and color?

The hairstylist could simply be renting a booth, and the shop would have no financial responsibility for the problem.

But your hair looks great!

I'm so sorry about the bag, though. I believe you should be compensated. I suppose not charging you for the cut etc. was her way of doing that; colour and cut is quite a lot of money. Nonetheless, it isn't right that she wouldn't discuss it with you. I'm so sorry you had to endure that; it must have been stressful.

Forgot to tip? Well good - if your stylist ruins your belongings and does nothing to compensate you for them, you damn well shouldn't be expected to tip! Call the manager!

I was just about to say what GX did, you forgot to tip ? It really shows what a great person you are.....the fact that this happened and that you are still concerned about how you treated her speaks volumes of your character.

I agree that you should figure out the cost of the cut and color and compare it to the cost of the bag. If it comes up short, you should ask for the difference in cash or in services. Period. I know that everyone has a bad day but one still needs to make up for damaging other people's property.

Thanks everyone. I am still upset but it will be OK the cut and color was about 1/2 the cost of the bag. I called the salon back and they referred me to their cooperate office.
What upsets me the most is no one apologized for the incident. Accidents do happen and I understand that.
My husband thinks I am nuts for posting about it but I knew that all of you would get it.

I just called a cobbler I have used in the past. I am going to take the bag to him tomorrow and he is going to see if there is anything that can be done.

On the plus side I do like my hair.

I suggest writing letters up the food chain until you get a response about the bag. I once wrote a letter to the top people at Pottery Barn about a shabbily constructed cabinet and got a personal phone call and reimbursement.

Seriously, that is so crazy that no one apologized. It seems that we live in a world that everyone is afraid or unwilling to say they are sorry because of liability. It is ridiculous that there is not an in-store policy that a manager can execute up to a certain amount of money.

Your husband thinks that it is nuts because it wasn't HIS pocketbook. : ) He would feel differently if his murse ( man purse ) had been affected.

Moving the bag out of the way as I always do when I am working with color...
Her responsibility not yours! A shoe repair can sometimes fix this. But you must call the
Salon And explain the situation...they must take responsibility !!!

Your hair looks fantastic! I recently cut mine shorter, too and found longer earrings (which were previously hidden by the old haircut) stand out much better.

Re: the bag, I bet your stylist freaked out, but I honestly question the integrity of the salon manager for not trying to make amends. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.
