Debbie, I gasped when I saw the photo of your cut. WOW! This is my favorite haircut that I've seen on you.
However, that TOTALLY stinks that not only did you not get any offer of compensation, but not even an apology. A couple tips - submit your complaint in writing, via email or letter, and keep a backup copy - I'd recommend submitting one to the local manager and one to the corporate office. Calling is a good way to follow up but the documentation of having a strong but tactful statement in writing can get a lot more traction.
If the corporate office for the salon has a Twitter or Facebook page, you might try submitting the complaint there as well - some large companies are very proactive about monitoring and following up to complaints submitted on social networking sites, and I think that trend is only increasing over time.
(Another tip - since it sounds like you love the cut but may not be so inclined to go back to this salon or to the stylist based on how you were treated, get someone to take clear pictures of the cut and color from every angle so that you can bring photos to a different stylist in the future to try to duplicate the great cut. I actually do this even though I LOVE my stylist - I photograph the new cut, and then if I ever decide to go back to it in the future, I kind of have a "hair inspiration/successful haircuts" file to refer to.)
